A first-hand report from the trial in Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Washington, another in the continuing series of historic trials of American military resisters to the Iraq War. Contrary to the current corporate spin, the judge was
doing just the opposite of "protecting Lt. Watada's rights" by declaring a mistrial.

Solidarity pitch invasion protest for Greek hunger strikers

In a “friendly”/unofficial football game between the Greek national team and the S. Korean national team in London, 4 people holding two large banners (2 people per banner) invaded the pitch. One banner said “70 days of hunger strike” and the other one added “We don’t forget, we don’t forgive” (it looks like they knew that the prisoners were free at last  http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2007/02/361683.html ).

Terror raid leaks fuel anger

Today two men were released from Coventry without having been charged after the so-called terror raids in Birmingham last week.

Human rights group Liberty have expressed their concern about the media and political speculation that surrounded last week's 'anti-terror' operation. Yesterday Liberty made a Freedom of Information Request to Home Secretary John Reid highlighting the dangers of leaking information to the press.

Cluster bomb inspectors in court

The defendents
Today, six "cluster bomb inspectors" were in court, charged with Criminal Damage and the new offence of Criminal Trespass (SOCPA 128 - the Serious Organised Crime and Policing Act, item 128). The case was adjourned for two weeks, as the decision to charge was only taken two days ago and the prosecution evidence was only given to the defendants this morning. The case will resume at 10am on the 20th of February.
