Report of Protest + Arrests Outside Gordon Brown Q&A Newcastle, 2nd July

On Thursday 2nd July activists from Fight Racism! Fight Imperialism! gathered outside the Discovery Museum in Newcastle after receiving a VERY last minute tip-off that Gordon Brown was holding an 'invite only' question and answer session inside. Three of the protestors were later arrested and released without charge.

Audio from the meeting of the The London Campaign to support the North West 10, foreign students who were arrested under Terror Laws and most of whom are now in prison, despite there being no evidence against them, met at the Khalili Lecture theatre at SOAS on Thursday 2nd July.

Speakers included Tariq Mehmood, one of the 'Bradford 12', Gareth Peirce - Human Rights Solicitor, Dorothy Wright of UCU, Asim Qureshi of Cage Prisoners and Rizwan Sabir, arrested with Hicham Yezza at Nottingham University.

Defend the SOAS 9 - Home Office 30 June 2009

The Daily Mail retained their first prize for the most absurd prediction by saying that the protesters planned to smash through the border controls and lead the refugees through 26 miles of channel tunnel?!

in a bold occupation at 2.30 this morning, a woman from peacestrike.org has converted the parliament square churchill statue into a mock-up of a sri lankan death camp. she intends to stay there as long as possible to highlight the plight of hundreds of thousands of tamil civilians facing threat of starvation, rape, torture or murder.

Nigeria mass deportation flight delayed by deportees' resistance

The joint charter flight that was meant to carry rejected Nigerian refugees to Lagos via Dublin this afternoon has been delayed for several hours due to deportees' refusing to board the plane. As of 11pm, the flight, which was scheduled for 17:15, had still not left Stansted airport.

Thousands of people from the No Border camp descended on Calais town, France, to get their point across about the situation facing increasing numbers of desperate asylum seekers stuck in the Calais area. Many asylum seekers face destitution in Calais as they struggle to complete their journey- for the most part away from war torn countries such as Afghanistan.

Campaigners blockade detention centre to stop mass deportation flight to Nigeria

Anti-deportation campaigners are currently demonstrating outside Yarl's Wood detention centre in Bedfordshire in an attempt to stop the mass deportation of families and children to Nigeria.

Campaigners from the Stop Deportation Network have staged a sit-in outside the centre's gates, preventing coaches carrying families due to be forcibly deported on a specially charted flight today from leaving.

Earlier this morning, another group of protesters staged a short demonstration outside WH Tours offices in Crowley, near Gatwick, before being removed by police. WH Tours is a private coach company contracted to carry deportees from detention centres to the airport.
