On Tuesday, a Dublin jury returned a unanimous decision of "not guilty" to free the Pit Stop Ploughshares 5. After 4 hours of deliberation & 13 days of trial the five walked free in comapny of many local & international supporters. The five had been facing a max sentence of 10 years if convicted on a $US2.5million "criminal damage without lawful excuse charge" arising out of their nionviolent diarmament of a U.S. Navy war plane.

Shell’s Corrib Gas Project in Context

For over a year now all work has been stopped on Shell and the Irish state’s attempts to build gas refinery and production pipeline in Erris, County Mayo, aka the Corrib gas project. This overview seeks to put the resistance to the planned destruction in context, by looking at the potential for oil and gas exploitation in Ireland, and at the positive impacts the struggle in Mayo can have, and is having, on other situations. Though firstly I’ll look at the issues around this mis-development, and I’ll conclude by looking at what activities we will be carrying out in the near future.

Glasgow airport used in US 'bunker buster' bombs shipment to Israel

Glasgows Prestwick Airport is a staging post for US supplies of bunker buster bombs to Israel. The aiport has just received two chartered Airbus A310 cargo planes filled with GBU 28 laser-guided bombs over the weekend. The bombs are being flown from the US to Israel for use in the war in Lebannon and possibly for a wider war. The GBU 28 is the massive 'bunker busting bomb' a weapon the Israeli war machine desperately needs in its bloody attempt to smash Hizbollah.

Review of New Indymedia Film, "i"

"i,” the powerful and occasionally frustrating new film by independent directors Raphael Lyon and Andres Ingoglia, tells of one such democratic moment, the Argentinean economic collapse of 2001 and the social uprisings that accompanied it. Along the way it also functions as one of the first, if not the very first, feature length films about the Independent Media Center (IMC, or Indymedia) movement, which chronicled the Argentine struggle as it unfolded.

We are expecting an attempted eviction at any time from Thursday 27th July and urgently require support from local residents, activists and anyone who wishes to help protect this ancient woodland from development/destruction.
