Strathclyde University students go into occupation against savage course cuts
27-06-2011 10:37
Strathclyde students have just gone into occupation of their university. They are occupying against the cutting of four departments which were ruthlessly voted through by the senate last week. They need the support of every Glasgow anti-cuts activist to make this a success. Come down to the Graham Hills building and show them support. The Revolution Reaches Europe: Tens of Thousands Protest in Greece and Spain
25-06-2011 09:49
The revolutionary movement that began in Tunisia at the end of last year has now sparked mass movements in Europe; principally, to date, in Greece and Spain. On the surface, these movements have little in common. In Tunisia and Egypt, the people came out in vast numbers to overthrow the hated dictators who, for decades, had strangled their economies and presided over police states, whereas in Greece and Spain, the protestors are not seeking the overthrow of dictators, and are not rebelling against a police state (although both countries can draw on their relatively recent experience of dictatorship).

Real Democracy Manchester Protest
19-06-2011 20:55
Around 100 members of Spanish, Greek, English and other European citizens living in Manchester, demonstrated in the city today as part of a Europe wide series of protests.
Demonstrators assembled in the city's Piccadilly Gardens as part of a spontaneous collective movement which, inspired by the Egyptian and Tunisian uprisings, started in Spain on the 15th May 2011 and soon spread to many cities both in Spain and abroad.
The group states: "We are seeking to try and gather people living in Manchester, and who, like us are "outraged" at the cuts and at the ideological agenda underpinning them, here and in the rest of Europe, and at the way in which the outcomes of two centuries of social, cultural and political struggle are being given away through policies targeting all sectors of welfare, education and culture, one after the other."

Former undercover cop’s media circus is just a big show
16-06-2011 09:02
Yesterday morning BBC Radio Five Live demonstrated, once again, the utter futility of interviewing former undercover police officer Mark Kennedy. Mr Kennedy is a man who has carved out a career as a professional liar. Pouring his heart out to Victoria Derbyshire, he apparently deeply regrets the endless lies he had to tell in his former role. However, he seems to show no sign of giving untruths a rest.
When asked whether he ever acted as an agent provocateur, Kennedy claimed he had “never encouraged anyone to do anything they weren’t already going to do”, and that he only ever came in at a very late stage to planned direct actions.
However, in the case of the 114 people arrested for conspiring to commit aggravated trespass at Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station in April 2009, we know this to be far from the truth.

Armed Forces Offices targeted in Oxford
15-06-2011 03:15
In the early hours of 15th June, the offices held by the Armed Forces at 35 St Giles since 1936 were targeted in an expression of independent anti-militarist direct action. Red paint, emblematic of the unneccesary deaths of innocents and servicemen and -women at home and across the world, was poured over the front door and steps in order to cause maximum inconvenience to those who make war possible while masquerading as members of the local community. This was done to impede as far as possible the continuation of business from that location.Palestine Today 06 14 2011
