250+ march against fur in London

Many thanks and well done to everyone who made the anti-fur march and rally in London such a big success yesterday, Saturday December 1st. At least 250 anti-fur protesters took the anti-fur message right to the heart of the UK's fur retail trade. Protesters came from as far afield as Manchester, Leeds, York, Newcastle, Cambridge, Oxford, Norhampton, Devon, Wales and Gloucester to support the march.

Argos workers in Ireland are on strike. An agreement with the union since 2000 has broken down and talks faltered. So in the run up to Christmas workers have left their tills. The management have taken to moving workers from England and Wales to help break the strike.

Climate activists opposed to plans for a third runway at Heathrow this afternoon disrupted a Parliamentary inquiry going on inside the House of Commons.
Protestors from climate action group, Plane Stupid, disrupted the proceedings of the Transport Select Committee who were hearing evidence from BAA boss, Steven Nelson and Aviation Minister, Jim Fitzpatrick.

Pacifist on trial: DSEi protest planned on Monday (3rd Dec) in east London

A female pacifist pensioner is facing a malicious prosecution for 'trespass at Custom House Docklands Light Railway station' during the DSEi arms fair in September. Her trial concludes on Monday 3rd December, from 9.45 am at Stratford Magistrates' Court in east London (tube: Stratford - jubilee line). There will be a protest with music outside the courthouse.

Netherlands: All high-schools on strike! Riots cops against pupils.

The past few days have been exiting in the Netyerlands because suddenly the pupils of almost all (high)schools in the Netherlands walked out into the streets and started to create a big mess.

In Amsterdam riotcops on horses chased 13-year old kids over the Museumplein and applied the watercanon on them. 250 kids were arrested (in the whole of Holland). At many places small riots broke out, kids pelted buildings with egs and stones. One of the buildings attacked was that of the main media centre in Hilversum and that of the parliament in The Hague.

The second day of the trial of 2 protestors arrested outside ULU in Malet Street, ended with both defendants being found not guilty by a District Judge. The arrests of a woman and a 14 year old youth followed their attempts to obstruct the civilian cameraman, who was filming people as they arrived for a planning meeting for protests against the DSEi Armsfair which took place at the ExCeL centre in Docklands in September 2007.

Squat raid by Rottweiler in Brighton

According to the local rag The Argus, a squat in Kingsway, Hove was raided on Monday afternoon by a gang of six men carrying crowbars and baseball bats led by a Rottweiler. A group of 12 men and women have been using the site for about 3 weeks and were so terrified that they had to barricade themselves in an upstairs room.
