Tree Protest Camp established at Shepton Mallet, Somerset. People needed

A Tree Protest Camp has been established at Shepton Mallet in Somerset. Its aim is to protect 300 to 400 mature decsidious trees from being felled to make way for a new TESCO store. There is strong local support for the camp. People are needed to help out at the camp. A war memorial is also set to be relocated for the store.

Court slaps down German police billing of anti-nuclear activists

German police have failed with another attempt to scare off anti-nuclear protesters by billing them for police activities. An appellate court in Schleswig, northern Germany, has ruled illegal cost recovery demands by the federal police for protests by activists against transportation of nuclear waste.

Report on Rossport Solidarity Camp speaking tour of Scotland and England

After a very productive publicity tour of England back in November we decided it was time to do some more outreach, this time to Scotland. This has been an important part of our work over the winter months. Its important that we make as many links as possible so we can show that this campaign is not isolated that its part of a worldwide struggle against capitalism, a struggle against the profits of big business always being put before the needs of communities. Also this report will feature my trip to the World Social Forum in Venezuela where I got to give a presentation on the Shell to Sea campaign. Apologies for not reporting on this sooner but things are very busy here. During the g8 we had made some good connections in Scotland especially with other protest camps. So on the 3rd of February 4 of us from the Rossport Solidarity Camp headed off to Scotland in our trusty transit van.

Bolivian Solidarity interview edited for Resonance FM show wednesday

This is a 17min audio piece put together as the outro for the wednesday Indymedia London Newswire Show that goes out on Resonance FM every week. The first 11 minutes include an edited version of an interview made with one of the delegates from the Bolivian Solidarity Campaign who was at last weekends benefit gig. The first section also includes one track recorded live during the gig. The final six minutes are throw away filler design to coincide with the end of the hour long show.

Aubonne Bridge Trial started - follow-up from the g8 protests in Evian, 2003

In May 2003, an affinity group blockaded the Aubonne Bridge in order to stop a G8 delegation from reaching the summit in Evian. The police cut the climbing rope and nearly killed two activists. Now the policeman who cut the rope and his senior officer are in court. They are charged with bodily harm with negligence…

NCADC - Must Stay!

National Coalition of Anti-Deportation Campaigns (NCADC)

NCADC went bust on Saturday the 4th of February when all funding for the full time staff and running costs of all offices came to an end. With immediate effect we have to announce the closure of NCADC's North East & Scotland office on Tuesday 28th February and barring a miracle the closure of the North West Office in Manchester will follow at the end of March and complete closure of NCADC in May.
