Maura Harrington is now into her fourth day without food. Her protest is against the laying of the laying of the Shell pipeline in Mayo, and the shameful giveaway of Irish natural resources to Shell, Statoil and the other energy companies.

On Mon 8th Sep the monthly picket of arms dealers Heckler & Koch took place at the entrance to Easter Park, Lenton. Locals wearing Heckle H&K T-shirts were joined by supporters from Brighton's Smash EDO campaign and enjoyed a great selection of tunes on the mobile sound system, as well as refreshments by Veggies.

Dave Mahoney was cycling to the grocery store with his girlfriend in Minneapolis on September 4th 2008, when an un-marked van pulled up, and two men wearing FBI shirts inexplicably bundled him into the back, and drove off.

Dave was part of the protesters assembled at the Republican National Convention in the City that week, and was there to peacefully remind America and the rest of the world of some of the atrocities, and in-justices millions of people endure everyday across the globe - many of which link directly to the actions & policy of the Republican party.

The Solitaire
The world's largest pipe-laying vessel, The Solitaire, arrived off the coast of Mayo, Ireland, this evening. The Solitaire is installing the offshore section of the Corrib Gas pipeline for Shell. The ship is supported by a number of Shell support craft, the Irish Police Water Unit and part of the Irish Navy.Stiff opposition is expected, with a local school teacher already on hunger strike. Hundreds of police officers are in the area, and the main road to the beach has been closed.
