Demonstrations at Directions Hearing for Country Guidance Tribunal on DR Congo

On 12th April 2007, there will be a "directions hearing" for the Country Guidance tribunal on the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). This will be a meeting between the judge, the barristers bringing the case and the home office to ensure all parties have been served with the information they need. After this the date for the full hearing will be established.

Last saturday, after months of organising, a huge event called Reclaim The Future took place in a squatted building on Holloway road. The event itself kicked off at 1pm and throughout the afternoon there were workshops and discussion on a wide variety of issues and campaigns. The events during the day are just part of the story. The previous days had seen large numbers of people self organising the space in order to be ready for the day - a real example of doing it for ourselves.

Late night phone calls and all I wanted to do was sleep. Riot police had turned up at the Reclaiming The Future party on Holloway Road in North London. So, exhaustion and a crippled mind be damned, Oscar Beard used his electric bill money to get a taxi to the area and cover the latest threat to society, probably greater than terrorism - people partying and having fun.

Carnival Against The Pipeline

what is it about the holloway road, anarchists, and cops? a year and a half ago the anarchist book fair ended in a ridiculous police operation that blocked holloway road for more than an hour, led to trials lasting several weeks for affray, assault, etc. and yet in the end the court decided no crime was committed - the police had totally overreacted. tonight's rtf4 party received the same ridiculous treatment.
