The 300-350 Show: Civil disobedience for climate justice

Climate Radio | 23.11.2009 13:00 | COP15 Climate Summit 2009 | Climate Chaos | Energy Crisis | Social Struggles | World

On 16th December activists will attempt to take over the United Nations climate summit in Copenhagen for a day and set the agenda. We speak to one of organisers of the various mass actions that are planned for the talks.

In contrast to many of the false solutions in play at the talks, protestors will advance a common sense approach based on the principles of Climate Justice. We speak to Chris Kitchen who has been helping to organise the mass mobilisations with the Climate Justice Action coalition about the week of actions that has been planned.

We also speak to Frances Wright, legal advisor to the Camp for Climate Action, about the legal context for the protests.

The 300-350 Show is made for ResonanceFM in London and is syndicated free to not-for-profit community radio stations and independent media outlets around the globe.

The programme is named after what is now believed to the safe level in parts per million (ppm) of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. This finding is based on the work of James Hansen and his team in a paper titled "Target Atmospheric CO2: Where Should Humanity Aim."  http://arxiv.org/abs/0804.1126
