Save Radley Lakes

Massive local opposition to the destruction of the last two remaining lakes at Radley has been ignored by power company RWE npower, and the decision to fill these lakes with toxic ash has been rail-roaded through by Oxfordshire County Council.
A squatted field centre has been opened on the lakeside to stop this envieonmental disaster, and they go to court on Wednesday 10th January to fight their eviction. Show your support!

On Friday Tony Blair PM used his first day back at work to visit the London Chest Hospital in Bethnal Green. Prior to this he had just completed his tour of has-been manufactured pop stars mansions with a stay at the luxury residence of one of the Bee Gees. This followed his recent holiday in August at the seaside mansion of heterosexual rock god Sir Cliff Richard. So much for ‘Cool Britania’…….

The Mischief Makers are a group of activists and artists based in Nottingham (UK) who formed early 2005 as a creative response to the G8 Summit, held at Gleneagles Hotel, Scotland in July that year. The collective uses creativity to support community, environmental and social justice campaign and activist groups. York Critical Mass Report

Critical Mass returned to York on Friday with about two dozen riders braving the cold to take another random ride around the city to celebrate cycling. The route took them to York's newest road, round a roundabout the highest legal number of times, and into a short interruption from York's boys in blue.

The ship cleared Australian Customs in Hobart, Tasmania, on December 29th, 2006, only hours before the nation of Belize struck our flag. The Farley Mowat has no home port and can be siezed and sunk by any navy.

Israeli Army Invades Ramallah.. Again

In the latest Israeli act of aggression, a large force invaded the West Bank city of Ramallah yesterday afternoon, with at least 30 military vehicles accompanied by bulldozers and helicopters. 4 Palestinians were killed (6, according to another report) and at least 20 were wounded, 3 of whom were described as serious.

German police are killing Africans

Oury Jalloh burned to death in a police cell in Dessau, east Germany, on the 7th of January, 2005. Two years have now gone by; two years in which the court in Dessau has effectively blocked any hearings from taking place against the responsible police officers. This alone is evidence enough that neither the police nor the judiciary is willing to see that the events surrounding the death of Oury Jalloh are clarified.

Faslane Naval Base (near Glasgow), Tuesday 2nd January 2007 - A group of 25 activists from the Belgian environmental group "Friends of the Earth Flanders & Brussels" have blocked the British nuclear submarine base since 8am this morning. This morning 8 activists were arrested after nonviolently blocking both main entrances to the base. Amongst those arrested were people from Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Portugal and Finland.

Pregnant Woman Raped and Lost Baby after Being Deported into the Desert

Reports of terrible tragedies suffered by the 240 refugees who were arrested and deported by the Moroccan authorities on December 23, 2006, began to reach us.

According to reports from Attac, a 5-month-pregnant Congolese woman was viciously raped on January 2nd. She was hospitalized but lost her baby in hospital. Since her rape, she is said to have been in a state of shock and refuses to speak.

According to Afrik.com, quoting Paulin Kuamzambi, the vice-president of Morocco Refugees Collective, four women were raped on the way back to Oujda (Morocco). There hasn't been any more information about the circumstances surrounding these rapes except that, in 3 cases, the rapers were Moroccans, while it was Algerians in the fourth.

activists lock down Alcoas' London offices

Late on New Years Day activists targeted 2 Alcoa front companies, (Kawneer in central London and ASA in North London.) Both companies had their front access doors locked shut with D-locks and chains, and were left grafitti messages that they should leave Iceland straight away.
They are destroying the last pristine wilderness in Europe right now, as well as trashing other communities and ecosystems all over the world.
