The Climate Camp, I'm confused

I find myself a little confused, not for the first time admittedly. Having just come back from a wonderful direct action and environmental information camp in the English Lake District, replete with thoughts of anarchy (proper anarchy, that is) and a future that we have to make our own, the news is now full of London Climate Camp 2009 which appears to be assembling at the scene of the 14th century Peasant’s Revolt, Blackheath in south-east London. Wat Tyler would have approved of the location, but would he have approved of the motivation?

Vestas - support needed to prevent blades leaving UK

Vestas has started rapidly shipping blades from stock in Southampton to the USA. Two ships carrying 90 blades each have sailed from Southampton this week (17-21 August), and a third is currently being loaded with 109 blades. According to the Vestas workers’ contacts in Southampton docks, another two sailings are scheduled soon.

Mainshill Update - increase in police surveillance

The Mainshill Solidarity Camp was set up in June to stop an open cast coal mine from being built next to the village of Douglass in South Lanarkshire. Two weeks ago it hosted the Camp for Climate Action Scotland. The camp has treehouses, towers and tunnels all built to resist eviction.

Since the end of Climate Camp Scotland we've been sorting out left over tat and continuing building defences. This week we have had an increase in Police surveillance with early morning visits on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Both times two police officers walked around the site taking video footage of defences.

Nuclear New Build Blessed by Bishop of Carlisle

Carlisle Cathedral - Jesus would be turning the tables over!
The new Bishop of Carlisle has given his blessing to new nuclear build in Cumbria, proclaiming “I am very enthusiastic about nuclear power as a green option for the future.”
Radiation Free Lakeland sent an open letter to the Bishop in June - there has been no reply. Today representatives from Carlisle Action on Climate Change and Radiation Free Lakeland delivered a letter direct to Carlisle Cathedral.
