Oil goliath BP, already forced to postpone its centenary party at the
British Museum on April 1st, (also known as Fossil Fools Day[1]), has
rescheduled the event for May 6th. Art Not Oil[2], the group behind the
original demonstration against its ‘tarnished centenary’, will be throwing
‘A Wake for BP’ as guests arrive at the British Museum between 6pm and 7pm
on the new date.

International declaration urges caution over biochar

Shock and Awe tactics along with Bribery used by Nuclear Industry in Cumbria

The nuclear industry appear to be using the same tactics as George Bush’s
‘shock and awe.'
Three possible sites have been put forward for nuclear new build in
Cumbria. One is Sellafield, which is described by the industry as ‘least
preferred’ because of the decommissioning work. The other two sites of
Kirksanton and Braystones are greenfield and include areas of European
wildlife importance.

Climate Camp in the city

Street dancing within the first minute of camp
For twelve hours, a narrow granite and concrete crevice in the city, normally swilling in dirty money was transformed into a ribbon of colour and music. While the rest of the city raged, gambled and gleefully rolled the earth towards runaway climate change, climate campers opened the street to people and relaxed in the sun. Workshops educated us, stand-up poets and musicians entertained us and a zero carbon kitchen fed us.

Climate Camp Claims Victory as Bishopsgate Occupied for 12 hours

Yesterday around 2000 protesters set up a Camp for Climate Action in the
middle of the Square Mile, closing a major road for 12 hours. The Camp was
located outside the European Climate Exchange on Bishopsgate, to protest
against the G20's plans to use deeply flawed carbon trading mechanisms to
tackle climate change.

Today saw not only mass protests in London ahead of the G20 summit, but local demonstrations in cities around the UK and across the globe. Under the banner of Fossil Fools Day, activists held protests at banks, energy companies and power stations across the UK, the USA, Canada and South Africa to highlight the twin economic and climate crises.
