Eqinox Sabotage at Broken Cross Open Cast Coal Mine

On Equinox night last Sunday two huge graders at Broken Cross Open Cast Coal Site in South Lanarkshire were trashed. One of them was as big as a three story building and used to load coal on to lorries, headed for railheads and power stations. Hydraulics, electrics and steel cables were cut, and anything breakable was broken. They won't be used for a while.

Representatives of the company Veolia have withdrawn from a business presentation at Birmingham Council House on Monday 21st March 2011 following pressure from the Palestine Solidarity Campaign. Veolia has been the subject of an international campaign due to its involvement in illegal infrastructure projects in the occupied Palestinian territories. Keith Riley, Managing Director of Technical Services for Veolia had been expected to address a Green Monday event of Corporate Climate Change Leaders.

Sizewell Exclusion Zones
The various Japanese exclusion zones mapped onto Sizewell Nuclear Power Station. Why Sizewell?
1. In 2007 the fuel pond leaked at Sizewell A and it was only accidentally detected by some contractors since the workers ignored the various alarms.
2. Sizewell B was forced to shut for 7 months last year due to problems with its primary cooling system. During the closure a fire broke out in some graphite filters but was eventually put out by 12 fire crews and site fire workers.
3. In February this year Sizewell B was forced to shut again due to another problem with its primary cooling system

Vienna, 11 March 2011 (1245 CET) | The IAEA's Incident and Emergency Centre has received information from Japan's Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency (NISA) that a heightened state of alert has been declared at Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. NISA says the plant has been shut down and no release of radiation has been detected.
Japanese authorities have also reported a fire at the Onagawa nuclear power plant, which has been extinguished.
