Four cleaners sacked by cleaning contractor Mitie at City insurance giant The Willis Group handed in a cross-union and community petition to the Unite union last Friday, asking deputy General Secretary Jack Dromey to give full support to their four month old campaign for reinstatement.

Struggling to cope

Colnbrook immigration removal centre (IRC) had made little improvement since its last inspection, and was struggling to cope, said Dame Anne Owers, Chief inspector of Prisons, publishing a report today Tuesday 2nd June, on the inspection of the centre

Safety at the centre continued to be a significant concern, with a challenging and vulnerable population and a drugs problem.

LCAP picket Duncan Lewis Solicitors in London

The London Coalition Against Poverty (LCAP) held another picket yesterday against Duncan Lewis Solicitors. Duncan Lewis & Co. make millions from taking legal aid cases from people on low income and with precarious immigration status, but they often let people down by not being responsible and treating their clients with negligence and disrespect.

The protest saw ex clients giving testimonies of their horrible treatment at the hands of the discredited solicitors and protesters passing 'guilty' verdicts after each story. Below are some pictures of the protest.

A third set of removal directions have been served on Ismail Cherbal and Safia Aouf, nationals of Algeria, and their British-born children Sonia aged four and son Aya aged 15 months. Who have lived in Blackburn, Lancashire, for almost five years. They are currently detained in Yarl's Wood Immigration Removal Centre and are due to be forcibly removed from the UK on Sunday 31st May, at 15:00 hours on Air Algerie Flight AH2055.

Another attempt to remove Sima Valand

Sima Valand is desperately fighting to stop the Home Office sending her to India where she is at risk of murder at the hands of her in-laws. She was not flown on Fri 8th May for reasons that are still unknown but a new removal date has been set for this Wednesday (20th May). She remains in an immigration prison.

Who have lived in Blackburn, Lancashire, for almost five years. They are currently detained in Yarl's Wood Immigration Removal Centre and are due to be forcibly removed from the UK on Saturday, May 23rd, at 09.45 hours on British Airways flight BA894 to Algeria.

Since the end of 2007, the detainees of Vincennes’ center detention of migrants (France), have ceaselessly struggle for their freedom. The 21th 2008, a Tunisian called Salem Essouli died because of a lack of medical care. Then a revolt blew up, and the bigger center in France was destroyed by fire. Eight persons are accused of this destruction, we still don't know when the trial will be.
