As part of their mini-tour of Birmingham, Coventry and Leicester 10th -14th May to raise questions about whether cars are the best way to organise transport in the 21st century, Bicycology will be occupying the Poolmedow Bus Station / Cox Street Car Park in central Coventry on Saturday 12th May, and reclaiming them for positive uses The Car Park is on Fairfax / Cox street. Census refuser court update: CPS drops some cases
An update on some of the court cases involving those who refused to complete the 2011 Census on anti-war and anti-surveillance grounds amongst others. Many objections were directly related to arms manufacturer Lockheed Martin's contract to process census data. The CPS has started dropping cases. This is the latest information we have. Please get in touch if you have more up-to-date info on any of these cases (or others).

The Second City Doesn't Deserve a Violent Racist as it's First Citizen
About a dozen members of West Midlands No Borders were met with enthusiasm and interest today, as they staged an info picket outside of the Birmingham City Council house. Their presence confronted the racist violence of soon-to-be-Mayor, Councillor John Lines, and the benefactors of Lines’ privatisation of Asylum Seeker housing, global security company G4S.
Large banners spanning the entrance of the Council House that read: “No To Racist Scumbag Mayor Lines” and “G4S will screw you 2” were the backdrop as passers-by stopped, despite the cold rain, to express their support.
“I wish I had a picture of this” said one passerby, “he really is a racist!”

At our demonstrations we’ve had many people stop and talk to us telling us that workfare did not help them, and the more of these stories we can publicise, the more pressure there is on the government to scrap the scheme and stop the providers profiteering from the taxpayer.
