Wednesday 26th March 12.30amJapan refuses entry to Antonio (Toni) Negri
The Japanese Ministry of Justice has refused entry to the Italian political philosopher Antonio (Toni) Negri (74) for flimsy reasons. Negri planned at invitation of the International House of Japan from today a lecture tour to the working politics (among other things at the respectable universities of Kyoto and Tokyo). After the Japanese Foreign Ministry had no doubts against Negri's entry, at short notice, nevertheless, the Ministry of Justice responsible for border and immigration regulations of the country expressed doubt. Two days before his departure one demanded of Negri a recorded proof ofhis past detention as a "political prisoner".

Protest Against the 'Church' of Scientology in Birmingham - pix
About 100 people today gathered in Birmingham city centre to protest against the "illegal and unethical activities" of the so-called Church of Scientology (CoS), which is described by many to be more of a "cult" or a "commercial enterprise" than a church (€o$). The protest was organised by Anonymous, a loose group of web users opposed to Scientology, who had organised a global day of action against the 'church' worldwide on 10 February 2008.
Armed with lots of leaflets and placards, most protesters wore V for Vendetta masks or simply covered their faces with scarves, as the 'church' is known for reprisals and relentless harassment of its critics.

Syrian Embassy profiling Kurdish protesters
Some 100 Syrian Kurds from across the country held a protest yesterday (Wednesday, March 12th) at the Syrian embassy in London to commemorate the so-called Qamishly Uprising in 2004, where tens of Kurdish rioters were killed and thousands arrested by the Syrian police and army. The demo was again restricted and 'penned in' but one protester, wearing traditional Kurdish cloths, was allowed to deliver a protest letter to the embassy.A digital video camera was seen in the embassy's windows filming protesters, presumably to profile and punish them, either directly, if they ever returned to Syria, or by proxy, through intimidating their families back home.
