Scientology vs Wikileaks
Wikileaks.org describes itself as "an uncensorable Wikipedia for untraceable mass document leaking and analysis. Our primary interest is in exposing oppressive regimes in Asia, the former Soviet bloc, Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East, but we also expect to be of assistance to people of all regions who wish to reveal unethical behavior in their governments and corporation". In recent years it has stood up against the US government, Swiss bankers, African dictators, and more. Most recently, it has faced a new enemy: the money-hungry cult known as the Church of Scientology.Operation Reconnect: Birmingham

Rising Tide "Fossil Fools Day" "Fun Demo" Leamington Spa
Roll up, roll up! The climate circus is in town. Confronted with melting ice caps, unprecedented species extinction, droughts and extreme weather, climate change threatens our very survival. The fools at the head of the fossil fuel empire continue to plunder the earth, with the governments as willing court jesters at their side. They would have us believe that we can escape climate change with techno-fixes, market mechanisms and offset schemes - all technocratic acrobatics that distract us from the truth: the only real solution to climate change is to keep fossil fuels in the ground.
On April 1st, 2008, we're going to turn the tables and show them who the real fools are.

Midlands Arts Centre (mac) workers campaign against mass job losses
The Midlands Arts Centre (mac), established in 1962, is the most visited arts centre in the Midlands with over 500,000 visitors a year. Mac is a non-profit arts centre situated in Cannon Hill Park, Edgbaston, Birmingham. It is due to close for around 18 months for a £13.5 million refurbishment in April 2008. Mac has had to fundraise money for what it terms is the 'refurbishment of our home'. As you negotiate your way through the exhibition spaces and the bar, donation bins catch your eye and urge "If you love mac as much as we love you, please help by supporting our Appeal". The role of mac's loyal and hard working staff, however, doesn't appear to feature in management's plans for a "bigger and better mac".South Asian Alliance presents an evening with Jamil Dehlavi
