On Ethnic Cleansing: Israeli Zionist Historian Benny Morris Speaks Out!!
14-01-2005 10:11
Benny Morris says he was always a Zionist. People were mistaken ... when they thought that his historical study on the birth of the Palestinian refugee problem was intended to undercut the Zionist enterprise. Nonsense, Morris says ... So they came to the mistaken conclusion that when Morris describes the cruelest deeds that the Zionist movement perpetrated in 1948 he is actually being condemnatory, that when he describes the large-scale [ethnic] expulsion operations [against the Palestinians by Israel's founders] he is being denunciatory. They did not conceive that the great documenter of the sins of Zionism in fact identifies with those sins.5. World Social Forum Brazil: Lula, ATTAC and the Crisis of the "Another World"

A 10 per cent reduction in fishing quotas was announced by the European Agriculture and Fisheries Council meeting held in Brussels, Belgium on 21-22 December. 14-01-2005 06:43
A scientific report released in Britain 0n 7 December 2004 said that one-third of the world's oceans should be declared protected areas to stop the wholesale slaughter of fish species. Such an extreme measure is necessary because whole ecosystems are on the verge of collapse, the report argues. The SHORTWAVE REPORT 1/14/05 ¡LISTEN GLOBALLY!

12-01-2005 21:03
Todd Gitlin, Paul Berman and assorted intellectuals of the "decent left" have earned their keep arguing that anti-imperialism is nothing but an echo chamber of nihilism, oedipal rage and tacit support for whomever the governing class declares the enemy. Once upon a time their kind derided the Communist left as window dressing for the gulag; now they argue with parallel duplicity that anti-imperialists are shills for "Islamo-fascist" death cults and suicide bombers. As the gate-keepers of acceptable dissent, that is to say "none," they rarely take time to note what it is, this America, they've declared their loyalty to and what it is exactly the "anti-Americans" oppose.Tsunami Global Vigil for the Global Village

MP Accountability: Shaun Woodward - New Labour - St Helens Sth
08-01-2005 16:55
An open letter to Shaun Woodward, New Labour MP for St Helens Sth. In which I examine his actual parliamentary record (support for Iraq War, Tuition Fees, Foundation Hospitals and ID cards), how he (mis)represents his electorate, ask some awkward questions and urge change.Go to www.PowerToThePeople.org.uk research your MP, name & shame and contact them for an explanation. With the General Election looming, publishing their actual (and most probably poor) record could have a real impact. Hold 'Em To Account!!

04-01-2005 13:15
ROBERT FISK: Well, I think that the whole project in Iraq is finished. We are not being told by Mr. Blair in my case and Bush in yours that this is the case, and perhaps through their own misjudgment or their own fantasies, they don't even accept this themselves. But the American project for democracy or whatever its real purposes were, for oil, economic expansion, Middle East fit for Israel, whatever it may have been, that project is finished. It is hopeless. It cannot succeed.
