Audio Our Illustrious World Leaders!
It seems wholly appropiate in this G8 week to make musical comment on our illustrious 'World Leaders'.

Even more so, given the events of the last day or so.

So here, for your delectation is a little tune wot I wrote a year or so back, telling you exactly what I think of careerist politicians.

The London Bombings: Time for Blair to Wake Up or Resign

08-07-2005 10:23

The US & UK’s oil & war-hungry foreign-policies look set to see London and other major western cities facing years, perhaps decades, of terrorist guerrilla warfare. Could our elected representatives be doing more to speak out against the illegal wars that have precipitated these barbaric acts?

Zen and the art of lying

08-07-2005 07:49

Attacks will remind us that we do not merely live in our world, but that we walk in the footsteps of a history of turmoil. That we are numbers totaled to become a threat. That there is no such thing as ultimate security, and that yes, we too can be forced to stand at the forefront of a war without wearing our combat boots.

The Voices and the Violence in Auchterarder

08-07-2005 01:28

Audio No borders? Us and them?
When I began to write the day after the march in Gleneagles, it was the violence that griped my mind, that formed the words. I, unlike many of the people I spoke to on wednesday, had been drained by sight of it. I felt the moral force ebb away from our protest even as it happened, and it was my sincere wish to be somewhere else. But there are many other stories of that day, and I shall begin with them, because the worst effect of violence is that nothing else can be heard above it - no other voices find their way through. The issues are forgotten, even if the violence is short lived.

London Calling

08-07-2005 00:03

British and London authorities should be ashamed of themselves for the events that occurred the 7/7 05 in London. While 1500 London police are over in Scotland, part of a 15,000-strong policing force, watching people chant and march against the G8, they apparently leave the capital unprotected. Anyway Blair first said " it was reasonably clear the attacks had been timed to coincide with the G8 summit in Gleneagles," and then: "the British people will not be intimidated after blasts hit London's transport network". It seems that the exasperation of control on people is unnecessary, since the big efforts against the alleged terrorist are completely useless. Control against potential terroristic attack is hardening since September 11 all over Europe and the United States. Even on 7/7 in many countries, like Italy, the premier declared being in higher risks than before, while the US raised the alert level for the nation's mass transit systems to orange. This means that the rise of the politics of fear may be grow, instead of lowering the politic of war.
