Obama Mania

11-11-2008 02:27

In the 1970s, the Rockefellers (America's most powerful family) chose Jimmy Carter for president after the turbulent Nixon years. Gerald Ford went along as window dressing. The same process repeated in 2008 to decompress after eight toxic Bush years. A needed respite for the country, the world, and humanity. A new party and face to appear different from the old one. Who better chosen than the first black president (a stroke of genius some believe) to deflect attention from the past and focus it all on him and the task he faces.

"What If Bush Did It?"

09-11-2008 01:23

Something to keep in mind. I've already encountered the other side of this, with many right-wing editorials suggesting that "the Left" (anyone who disagrees with them) can no longer criticize US policies, since Bush will be gone.

Obama advisers discuss preparations for war on Iran

07-11-2008 23:09

The emerging consensus on Iran in US foreign policy circles again underscores the fact that the differences between Obama and McCain were purely tactical. While millions of Americans voted for the Democratic candidate believing he would end the war in Iraq and address their pressing economic needs, powerful sections of the American elite swung behind him as a better vehicle to prosecute US economic and strategic interests in the Middle East and Central Asia—including the use of military force against Iran.

President Obama's trickery

06-11-2008 14:34

It is understandable that after 8 years of the most odious rapacious vile and corrupt administration in American history people would be very eager to see change. However amongst all the hand-wringing back-slapping and enthusiasm that has greeted the election of Barak Obama no-one seems to have thought through what an Obama Presidency will actually mean.

Morning in Obamerica

05-11-2008 19:38

What has Obama wrought? In the euphoria, can reality reclaim its rightful place? The parameters of rhetorical change are boundless, propelled into the nether-reaches of nonsensicality by hyper-speak and super-wishfullness that can never supplant the real world of entrenched class and race rule. Celebrate good times...COME ON! But at some soon point in time, we must return to the ground. And the need for struggle. Better start as soon as the cold breeze hits you. Like now.

Northcom, Africom and Other Threats

02-11-2008 22:04

The U.S. military constantly expands in size, budget and mission. Two new U.S. military "commands" have recently been activated or augmented, with ominous implications for global peace and domestic civil liberties. Africom now casts a shadow over the last continent for which the U.S. had no designated "command" structure, and Northcom, with responsibilities over the domestic U.S., is a nightmare for those who fear repressive "martial law" in America.
