Tune Out, Turn Off, Un-Plug

14-05-2007 12:53

Radical problems demand radical, not “bipartisan,” solutions. If we don’t change, the climate will. It already is changing with more rapidity than anyone dared imagine twenty years ago.

14-05-2007 12:46

Never in recent history has US Middle East policy been subject to such a barrage of conflicting pressures from erstwhile allies, clients as well as adversaries. The points of contention involve fundamental issues of war and peace, foremost of which are divergent responses to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the US-Iranian confrontation, the US occupation of Iraq as well as the US-Ethiopian proxy invasion and occupation of Somalia.

Global Military Alliance: Encircling Russia and China

11-05-2007 16:00

Although Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea and Japan are not formally members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), they are linked through military partnerships, affiliated government agreements, a network of partnerships, and bilateral military agreements with the United States and Britain.

The creation of a parallel NATO-like organization in the Far East and the Pacific Rim is part of the international brinkmanship of creating a unified global military alliance.

The Art of Remembering: An Open Letter to Secretary Rice

11-05-2007 11:55

The problem is when you have too much power you begin to think with your muscles. You are like a wounded bull in the china-shop that is Middle East. Whatever you touch, wherever you intervene, something is broken, something is ruined. Perhaps at some point you have to STOP and think of a way out without inflicting much more damage to yourself and those around you.

Until you learn to respect other peoples' right of self-determination and until you abandon your language of intervention, force and threats against my country, no number of visits to art galleries will solve our problems.

Beyond the hyperbole, what next for Northern Ireland?

10-05-2007 12:51

The ceremonial opening of the power-sharing Executive at Stormont, with Sinn Fein’s Martin McGuinness sitting alongside Ian Paisley of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), is portrayed as a fairy tale ending to the Northern Ireland peace process. In fact, it is more akin to a business agreement between two hostile parties charged with opening up Northern Ireland PLC to global investors.

The nature of God – and I ought to Know!

09-05-2007 16:02

[No apologies for the title, as it applies to everyone.] In today’s world far too many killers and murderers are utilising religion as a method of social manipulation, control and (believe it if you would face the reality of your ‘religion’) to JUSTIFY MURDER, THEFT and WAR! If that in itself doesn’t sound an alarm in the heads of all devotees of the ONE nameless, peerless, INFINITE God of ALL, then please go for a walk or entertain yourself with something else, this paper is NOT for you!

Finland, Host of the Eurovision Song Contest 2007, does not respect Human Rights

09-05-2007 12:42

Hosting the Eurovision 2007 song contest gives Finland an opportunity to market itself to the rest of the world with empty phrases and images that cover the gloomy reality. By doing so Finland wants cover up such facts as the poor legal protection people in Finland have against the missuse of power by members of the judicial system and various authorities. These practices have the silent approval of those in power.

Suddenly, it is 142,000 spoiled votes

09-05-2007 11:12

"I never used to feel strongly about this, but 100,000 Scots have just had their votes stolen by being misinterpreted as 'spoiled ballots' while voting against BlaIraq. No fucking way is that true. Maybe four of five thousand deliberate spoils, but I'm also guessing the 100,000 figure is being rounded down by that amount."

Pizza Delivery Guy and Cohorts Planned Fort Dix Attack

09-05-2007 08:03

How many of us put any credence into this stuff, let alone pay attention? “Federal authorities announced Tuesday that they had foiled a terrorist plot to attack Fort Dix. Six men were charged with planning to kill as many soldiers as they could,” the Associated Press would have us believe. “One of the suspects, Serdar Tatar, had delivered pizza on the base and said he knew it like the back of his hand,” according to the government, never mind the “post has had especially tight security since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.”

Deconstructing the Australian Broadcasting Commission

08-05-2007 15:20

The once public Australian broadcaster (ABC) is proving to be a brazen propaganda medium for the government. The latest overt propaganda issuing from ‘our’ ABC is clearly designed to soften public resistance to biometric and other intrusive forms of identification. Senator Stott Despoja is currently debating the uses and abuses of an identification smartcard in the Senate. With that debate in progress and unresolved we now witness BIOMETRIC ID ‘softening’ techniques by the ‘public’ broadcaster, ‘our’ ABC:

Bush and Lizzie's 1776 New World Order in joke

08-05-2007 14:24
