Bring out your Dead!

03-09-2008 15:06

you would be an old & senile lady scared to go out if you had lived .
Everyone on the left understands the significance of the 2nd Spanish Republic. All too often we look at how she fell a victim of a fascist coup d'etat and the ensuing prelude to the 2nd world war. We remember the first blanket & dive bombings more clearly than we remember the achievements of a revolutionary period whose birth and death passed before we were born.

Now super Judge Garzon has called for the files on the 30,000 disappeared from churches and regional offices - to assess whether any of the murderers still alive may be brought to justice.

Berlusconi & Gadhafi finishing history, new centuries & stopping migrants

02-09-2008 08:35

This last week Berlusconi's propaganda machine ostentatiously presented an aid package with formal historical apology attached as the first time a European power has offered financial compensation to former imperial possession. Mr B's 5 billion dollars over 20 years would Colonel Gadhafi agreed set a precendent for blood money and completely make up for Mussolini's establishment of Italian provinces whose lasting legacies are the name "Libya" and the spiffing good movie about dashing heroics at the Battle of Tubrik.

This time neither Europe's leading fascist or Africa's most evasive dictator needed to push the migrant route thing. It was and has been for some time a "non-sequitor".

Amadeu Casellas, 72 days hungerstrike - a "more political" prisoner now.

01-09-2008 13:01

In the last 6 days Amadeu Casellas has eaten no food as his protest, the ultimate protest any prisoner may undertake continues. But in contrast to the last report which noted the lack of international mobilisation and political pressure to highlight his case.

He's still in prison. So the political pressure must be sustained and increased. & it is.
A short article on what's happened in the last 6 days since the article "Amadeu Casellas, 64 days hungerstrike - a "not political enough" prisoner." was published.

"Amadeu says that he will exit on his own legs, or with his feet forward"

Caesar’s Vicar's Irish Govenor Have A Good Laught At The Irish And The Poles

31-08-2008 14:58

CAESAR’S VICAR’S IRISH GOVERNOR, CARDINAL SEAN BRADY, THE IRISH MIND, THE POLISH MIND AND THE BIG PICTURE

Why did the Irish reject Lisbon?

There is the small answer, the big answer and the in-between answer to this question

The small answer: The irish rejected Lisbon because the Rocco Buttigleoni, the Popes’ friend, was not given the job of EU Commissioner for Justice.

The Big Answer: The Irish rejected Lisbon because the Pope wants Europe to know that he really is Caesar’s Messiah’s Vicar on earth (I think he has given up his rank in the next world!) and that secular society, especially its Russian and Chinese form, being recalcitrant to his advices, are getting on Caesar’s nerves.

The In-between Answer: The Irish rejection of Lisbon was orchestrated to operate in tandem with the Poles unilaterally installing missiles aimed at Russia’s neck (justified by the planned agitation in Georgia) and Tibet’s Buddhist-Inspired provocation of China.

To understand how these answers fit into a single time-span that operates as a constant force in the world, one must be both a Catholic and a Pope. But laymen can get a glimpse of the Pope’s shenanigans by recalling some well-worn Papal methods of engagement. These, also, have a long-term as well as a short-term perspective.

PR Push for Iraq War Preceded Intelligence Findings

24-08-2008 14:00

The U.S. intelligence community buckled sooner in 2002 than previously
reported to Bush administration pressure for data justifying an invasion of
Iraq, according to a documents posting on the Web today by National Security
Archive senior fellow John Prados.

The documents suggest that the public relations push for war came before the
intelligence analysis, which then conformed to public positions taken by
Pentagon and White House officials. For example, a July 2002 draft [1] of
the "White Paper" ultimately issued by the CIA in October 2002 [2] actually
pre-dated the National Intelligence Estimate that the paper purportedly
summarized, but which Congress did not insist on until September 2002.

A similar comparison between a declassified draft [3] and the final version
[4] of the British government's "White Paper" on Iraq weapons of mass
destruction adds to evidence that the two nations colluded in the effort to
build public support for the invasion of Iraq. Dr. Prados concludes that the
new evidence tends to support charges raised by former White House press
secretary Scott McClellan and by the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence
in its long-delayed June 2008 "Phase II" report on politicization of
intelligence.

Amadeu Casellas, 64 days hungerstrike - a "not political enough" prisoner.

23-08-2008 19:04

Amadeu Casellas has been imprisoned since 1986 for taking part in armed robberies of banks in which no person was shot or physically injured. Previous to that he had been imprisoned during the dictatorship. In total almost 30 years of his life have been spent in jail. It was in jail that he contracted HIV in 2000. It is in jail that he has consistenly revindicated his anarchist philosophy known to many since the group he formed part of in 1973 distributed the money they robbed amongst tenants in danger of eviction.

His case as a political prisoner is clear & the contrasts between his hungerstrike against unconstitutionally continued detention & those of more "political" prisoners in the recent history of the Spanish state is stark.

Economy hit by inflation and threat of recession

22-08-2008 16:56

There has been a host of statistics in the last few weeks that testify to the increasingly serious impact the financial crisis is having on the British economy and the living conditions of working people. The rise in the cost of living has outstripped pay increases for the first time since the 1990s—meaning that the average person is now officially worse off.

Shifting The Burden Of Proof Changes Nothing In The GM Debate

22-08-2008 10:09

Imagine the scene: you walk into a bar and someone immediately faces you up, brandishing their fists, red with pent-up aggression clearly eager to send you on to the floor or worse. He screams into your face, spittle flecks flying across your nose and lips, “Prove to me that you deserve not to be punched repeatedly in the face!”
