Women against fascism will be opposing the EDL on 20th June 2010 in Tower Hamlets. The racist thugs & football hooligans of the [EDL] are trying to provoke young Muslim men into a violent response by marching on East London Mosque in Whitechapel and threatening to march on Brick Lane. Women will oppose the EDL on June 20th as we are against violence and want peace for Tower Hamlets.

On Sunday March 14th around 40 people gathered at Yarl's Wood immigration detention centre to show solidarity with the hunger strikers. Drummers and trumpeters turned out in force to let the women inside know of the wide support for their struggle. The demonstrators also made clear their view that detention of migrants is wrong, and the imprisonment of women and children in particular highlights the perversity of border enforcement.

More than 50 men and women, mainly Iranians, took part in a protest organised by the 8 March Women's Organsiation (Iran-Afghanistan) to mark International Women's Day. They protested at the Iranian Embassy against the 31 years of anti-women Islamic laws and repression and calling for an end to the Islamic regime in Iran before marching to Trafalgar Square for a rally.
