On the 5th morning after Israel declared a ‘ceasefire’, Israeli gunboats began shelling, as they had on several mornings since halting the 22 day air and land bombardment of Gaza. Think again - or shame on you Brighton Council

28-01-2009 15:17

I was very sorry to hear Brighton Council failed to shut down EDO on this occassion. Just how many jobs does this sick company provide?
After the second world war many arms factories changed there use.
However, I would argue there is NO EXCUSE for crimes against humanity.

Craig Murray at the Cambridge Law School occupation

28-01-2009 11:22

On Tuesday 28th night, Craig Murray, the former UK ambassador to Uzbekistan was invited by the assembly of the occupation for a talk. The university authorities prevented him from crossing into the lobby, meaning that he had to give his talk, standing withing the sliding front doors of the faculty. This sends a strong message to those within the university that try to prevent freedom of speech.

Southampton Palestine Café - reflections & thoughts on the BBC/SKY/and a Rab

Hope tree for Palestine as used in Hope Happening event in Southampton
Some thoughts reflections and the nature of impartiality, in this context - heavy warring from Israel and rockets from Gaza and reluctance to aid the injured and desolate due to the issue of impartiality - well an attempt ( im partial to doing it ourselves anyway).

Speech of Craig Murray to Students Occupying Cambridge University Law Faculty

28-01-2009 03:03

Despite being denied proper access to the Law Faculty building, ex-ambassador Craig Murray spoke and answered questions from the entrance for over 45 minutes. He spoke on the US war in Central Asia for control over natural gas pipelines, Lord Taylor of Blackburn and other war profiteers, and anti-Muslim propaganda in the media. Murray explicitly supported several key demands of the occupation as reasonable: that the university withdraw investment from the arms trade; that there be bursaries for Palestinian students; and that the university condemn Israel's recent actions towards Gaza.

EYEWITNESS GAZA: Uprooted Lives in Jabbaliya

28-01-2009 00:59

Yesterday saw the first canvas tents go up in the Gaza strip to house internally displaced people. The UN estimates 50,000 people have been made homeless due to the bombing and bulldozing of homes and properties by Israeli occupation forces in Israel's 21 day offensive in the Gaza Strip. The displacement is just meters in the case of many families who don't want to move far from their ancestral land, and have opted to move into tents on the site of their destroyed houses.
