Why has Indymedia Scotland not made publicly available, any more than a Sunday paper there has, an exposee of hidden abuse, at a social work backed health project in Edinburgh? War Resisters' International condemns Pinar Selek's life sentence

War Resisters' International, an international network of pacifist and antimilitarist organisations with more than 80 affiliates in 40 countries, condemns the persecution of Pinar Selek.

On 24 January 2013, Pinar Selek, a Turkish feminist antimilitarist campaigner, was given a life sentence by an Istanbul court. The court issued an arrest warrant for Pinar, who is currently living in Strasbourg.

Having a sectarian dig at the SWP’s recent problems - as some have done - is not the best way to deal with the serious issues involved. For this reason the article below is entitled ‘Clinging onto Patriarchy’ and considers how the whole of society - including the left - is dominated by patriarchal forms which result in various forms of marginalisation and exploitation of women - and not just in the SWP.
