Earth First! Winter Moot - latest details & venue - Brighton, February 6-7-8th 2
15-12-2008 17:03
The Earth First! Winter moot is an opportunity for people who feel affiliation with the ideas behind Earth First! to network, discuss and reflect on the ecological direct action movement and to plan for the future. In contrast with the yearly EF! Summer Gathering, which is held outside for around five days, the winter moot is a shorter weekend meeting, inside, less aimed at skill sharing and more at looking where we are at as movement and where we want to be going. A session is also reserved for discussing a UK mobilisation for the UN climate conference in Copenhagen late 2009.frankfurt / germany: protest against airport extension

13-12-2008 23:13
On 17th December, the European Parliament is due to vote on two pieces of legislation, the Renewable Energy Directive and the Fuel Quality Directive, each of which will lead to large-scale agrofuel expansion through long-term (2020) targets. Those laws are likely to trigger more land conversion, particularly in the global South, to grow fuel for Europe's cars, at the expense of forests and people, climate, food and biodiversity.Nuclear disarmament synergies

Human Rights and Animal Rights in Ireland

When campaigning quite legally and peacefully for animal rights can result in one's one own human rights being infringed! Why we shut Stansted Airport
09-12-2008 14:24
Monday's action has shown the power of young people determined to turn the climate talk into climate action. We took the decision to disrupt the airport to directly reduce the CO2 impact of Stansted, as a response to the government's consent to its expansion. We did so with heavy hearts, knowing it would disrupt passengers, because we knew the consequences of this action couldn't be worse than the consequences of inaction. If irreversible climate change kicks in, millions of lives will be destroyed.
Bad Hare Days in Ireland

I'm getting a pretty hot reaction reaction to a book I've written on my anti-bloodsports campaigning in Ireland. One certainly touches a raw nerve when one raises the issue of cruelty to animals dressed up as "sport".Global day of climate action in Gothenburg, Sweden
