Email alert: Stop more deforestation biofuels and peat burning as 'green energy'
04-01-2007 11:23
On 10th January, the European Commission is expected to make a final decision on the European Biomass Plan. There are serious concerns that they will promote ever more biofuels from palm oil, soya and sugar cane linked to rainforest destruction, peat drainage, biodiversity losses and, in some cases, human rights abuses. There is even pressure on them to class and supoort peat as a source of 'renewable biomass'. Please write to the European Commission today to express concerns.Want to get involved in the Camp for Climate Action 2007? Meet up 9th January

01-01-2007 23:19
Green Seniors have always existed. They are the people who, regardless of age, fight for what they believe. They are the people who see the way that our natural environment is changing for the worse and want to do something about it. They are the people who are a pain in the neck of authority, in fact of anyone and anything that operates in a way that degrades the environment for no good reason.LBIA & Vivisection Exports

Encourage Green Groups to Promote Plant Based Diets
30-12-2006 19:51
Despite the increasingly overwhelming evidence of the impact that meat & dairy farming has on the planet, none of the national environmental campaigning organisations currently promote plant based diets. Wouldn`t it be great if we could influence groups like Friends of the Earth and Greenpeace to encourage their supporters and the general public to adopt a veggie/vegan diet for the benefit of the planet?!! Well, now we have an opportunity to do just that.Sharphill Woods Protest :: A Video

The German environment minister says the salt deposit in Gorleben is geologically suitable for a final nuclear waste depository but other locations will be considered.“The findings so far about a dense rock cover and hence the barrier function of the salt were positively confirmed,” wrote the minister, Sigmar Gabriel, in response to an open letter from opponents of nuclear installations in the north German village.
We cum in peace

I was going to write a piece about yesterdays synchronized global orgasm for peace but see little point wasting my time writing original articles for Indymedia only to have the gatekeepers to open publishing remove them ( http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2006/12/358704.html,http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2006/12/358696.html). Maybe when the IMC admin team get their act together I might post a proper write up but in the meantime here is a shameless collection cut and paste from various other reports on the event.
