Lydd Airport on Romney Marsh Kent has announced plans to expand (Recently renamed 'London/Ashord Apt). The owner, an oil Sheikh who made part of his money from arms deals, wants it to be the 'Stanstead of the South' !

The only response to G8 meetings I've read so far is from a Christian Aid site who say they are disappointed and that much of the money promised is recycled money previously promised and not delivered.

Iceland dam works blockaded

At noon today, a group of about 16 people from across Europe braved mud & drizzle to blockade access roads and lock on to vehicles on the site of the Karahnjukar hydro-electric dam project, bringing work on the site to a standstill.

On Monday, 4th of July, during the Big Blockade at Faslane Nuclear Submarine Base, the weather was quite hot, so some people spontaneoulsy decided to add some water based actions to the road blockades.

On Monday 4th of July, Scottish CND, Trident Ploughshares, the Faslane Peace Camp and friends celebrated one of their biggest success in the struggle against the Nuclear Weapons of Mass Destruction in Britain yet:
They closed down the Faslane Submarine Base near Helensburgh, north of Glasgow for a day - with hardly any arrests and a holiday for the workers.
On a sunny day, the victory of Non Violent Direct Action came at last for the campaigners.

Esso station shut down

G8 activists have shut down Esso’s Musselburgh services near Old Craighall in Edinburgh by pouring vegetable oil over the forecourt in protest against the G8’s complicity in catastrophic global climate change, and in a refusal to let their dissent against the G8 be silenced.
