Only a pretty warped mind would consider putting an
opencast mind at the source of 3 of the regions
rivers! The Calder, Irwell and Aire all flow from
Heald Moor on the Lancs/Yorkshire border above
Todmorden and theyre polluted and silted enough
already thanks very much. Unfortunatly this ludicrous
plan is back in a planning enquiry, happening this
week in Burnley, as the company are appealling the
last decision which they lost.

Protesters have been blockading roads and railway lines in the southern Italian Basilicata region after the Rome parliament revealed on 14th november that a nuclear waste dump is to be built. On sunday, 23 th of november, more than 100,000 people participated in a demonstration. Because not even trucks with necessities were allowed to pass, local people were gradually running short of staples like milk and bread.
