More photos from the Huntington Lane camp, which is resisting UK Coal's attempts to destroy an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Shropshire. UK Coal plans to extract hundreds of thousands of tonnes of coal, the dirtiest fossil fuel of them all, in a huge open cast operation over the next few years. The National Eviction Team now appears to be maintaining a continuous presence on part of the site. Support is needed to defend the main camp.

Defend Huntington Lane coal protest camp has been building up and digging in since March, resisting plans by UK Coal to blight this lovely area of Shropshire with more open cast hell. With the arrival of the National Eviction Team who cleared an unoccupied part of the camp in the middle of last week, the main camp now needs your urgent help and support. Take yourself, your ideas, your energy and supplies along to this beautiful part of Shropshire if you can and as soon as you can.

Huntington Lane Coal Mine Eviction?

The eviction process at the Huntington Lane coal mine site near Telford, Shropshire appears to have begun, but no eviction notice has yet been served. The National Eviction Team and local constabulary are currently on site but no arrests have been made. Heavy machinery is now on site and breaking ground.

Huntington Lane protest camp is in the process of being evicted - part of the site has already been taken by bailiffs, and the other half is expecting eviction any time from tomorrow. The site was set up over six months ago on the site of a proposed open cast coal mine in a beautiful stretch of ancient woodland near the Wrekin in Shropshire. Foie gras, considered by some to be a delicacy, is produced by forcing a long metal pipe down the throats of ducks and geese and force-feeding them massive amounts of grain, resulting in their livers swelling to up to 10 times their normal size where the liver then becomes diseased and that disease is know as hepatic steatosis. The diseased liver is sold and served as 'foie gras'.
