The Khimki Hostages Need Your Solidarity!

Russian activists are calling on their international comrades to secure the release of Maxim Solopov and Alexei Gaskarov, two Moscow antifascists arrested on July 29 for their alleged involvement in a demonstration the previous day against the abuse behavior of the local administration against activists and residents trying to save the local forest from logging to make way for a toll road. If convicted, Gaskarov and Solopov could face seven years in prison. In addition to fabricating a case against them, the police have used it as an excuse to crack down on the Moscow antifascist movement.

Russian embassy picket defends antifascist Khimki hostages

A picket of the Russian Embassy in London is to be held on Monday September 20th. The protest is part of a series of international actions in defence of the Khimki hostages. These are two grassroots antifascist activists (Alexei Gaskarov and Maxim Solopov) who are currently in custody in Moscow on fabricated charges facing the prospect of very heavy prison sentences.

Happendon Wood Update - day six

The newly occupied Happendon Wood Action Camp is still going strong on day six. After a police inspector and a superintendent visited the site on Tuesday and walked around site police have limited their response to regular drive pasts. There has still been no contact from Scottish Coal or Douglas and Angus estates, who lease the land.

Warhead Lab Plans Prompt Blockade of Nuclear Weapons Factory

Around twenty members and supporters of Trident Ploughshares joined a blockade and protest at one of the gates to the Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE) at Aldermaston, Berkshire during this morning’s rush hour in protest at plans to build a new multi-million pound warhead testing facility at the site. Four of the activists chained themselves together with arm tubes and lay down in front of the gate for two hours, but released themselves without any of them being arrested at around 9.30am. Others stood close to them with banners, and sang songs. Many workers trying to enter the base were diverted away by Ministry of Defence police, who were in attendance; but traffic on the public highway appeared to be unaffected.
