Lydd Airport on Romney Marsh Kent has announced plans to expand (Recently renamed 'London/Ashord Apt). The owner, an oil Sheikh who made part of his money from arms deals, wants it to be the 'Stanstead of the South' !

LYDD AIRPORT, ROMNEY MARSH. KENT.

NO EXPANSION CAMPAIGNS.

Meetings due: Rye, East Sussex July 22nd. see Two below.
: Dymchurch, Kent. July 27th. see One below

One: Lydd Airport-No Expansion Campaign.

"For this Marsh-country...hath beene by little and little laied unto the land by the benefit of the sea. Whereupon I may well and truly tearme it the Seas-gift. William Camden. Britannia 1610.

LA-NE Agenda.

Objectives: To prevent Lydd Airport expanding from 5000 passengers per annum now to 2 million by 2011 and 6 million by 2021.

To prevent them utilising jet airliners of whatever size by opposing the extending of the runways thus enabling such monsters to land and take off.

Results of any expansion and why we oppose:

The long term survival of the 900 hectare RSPB Dungeness Bird Reserve, and the sites of international importance in terms of flora and fauna would be at great risk.

The quality of life of residents in the affected areas - Greatstone, Littlestone, New Romney, Camber, Lydd, Rye, Hythe , Dymchurch and associated villages - will suffer the effect of a major avaiation operation in their vicinity.

The major town of Folkestone would suffer from noise, air and other pollution as being under the incoming flight path.

The Countryside will suffer the impact of the infrastructure and development, which would inevitably follow the expansion of Lydd Airport on the proposed scale.

---------

We will investigate the possible pursuance of legislative measures to protect the entire areas of Walland Marsh, Romney Marsh and associated coastland from future development proposals.

Join us and participate: We need your help, knowledge, skills and enthusiam. Contact: Malcolm Dyer, 01797 361772 email: mdyer004@aol.com
