"United Against Nuclear Iran": America's war propaganda mouthpiece

20-09-2010 11:30

United Against Nuclear Iran billboard ad in Peoria, Illinois, USA.
Those who regularly follow the developments of Iran might have come across to the website of "United Against Nuclear Iran", a "non-partisan, non-profit advocacy organization" that seeks to "prevent Iran from fulfilling its ambition to become a regional super-power possessing nuclear weapons"

UANI has compiled an elaborate list of the foreign companies and firms which do business with Iran and calls on its readers and visitors to send condemnatory letters and complaints to these companies so as to persuade them to withdraw their capitals and resources from Iran and stop doing business with a country which the United States and its European allies consider to be an emerging nuclear threat in the Middle East.

In a nutshell, UANI's objective is to impair the Iranian nation. They already know that Iran does not seek nuclear weapons. UANI's seeks a weak, demoralized and unstable Iran without an active role in the international community. UANI is not United Against Nuclear Iran, it is United Against the Nation of Iran.

FLASHBACK: Dialog Among Civilizations – Whytalksfail When Hectoring Hegemon Are

20-09-2010 05:48

What is the point of this dialog analysis and all this verbage?

The point is a matter of life and death for nations. That is the point of this. Let me be very precise.

Either the United States, or Israel, are poised to attack Iran, as noted by many commentators in the World press,...

This is March 2007. I have two imperatives before me: A) I do not wish to hear in 2010 that there was an “intelligence failure”, that it was another Gulf of Tonkin, or some other new contrivance from the imaginative and fertile mind of the hectoring hegemons.

UG#517 - JFK and The Unspeakable (Khrushchev, Cuba, martyrdom of MLK/JFK)

19-09-2010 10:11

Audio
This week's show is dedicated to James Douglass. His talk centers on the assassination of JFK, and it retells the Kennedy presidency with some of the backstage manipulations from down memory hole. He sets the scene by recounting Thomas Merton's prediction that, if Kennedy could turn towards the good, he would be assassinated by "the unspeakable". We look at Kennedy's close collaboration with his supposed adversary, Khrushchev to avert war, and explore a parallel with WW1. We listen to a section of Kennedy's most important speech, in which he finally stepped over the line by unilaterally announcing a US nuclear test ban treaty, and chronicle how he worked for world peace, until he we assassinated by the US security state. We conclude by looking at the implications for the 21st century, exploring a parallel with Martin Luther King and hear an afterword by Bill Hicks.

911 and Imperial Mobilization Redux By Zahir Ebrahim

18-09-2010 18:56

Please circulate — 911 and Imperial Mobilization Redux

Hello – Please circulate my newest exposition geared towards the mainstream ‘United We Stand’ crowd who know something is wrong with this 9 year long 'war on terror', but can’t put their finger on it, and also don’t wish to tread into the ‘conspiracy’ jungle where only forensic knowledge and deep intelligence lurks. It has always been a problem how to explain complex matters to the “crowd of simpletons and the credulous” (Mein Kampf). The war-mongers use incessant propaganda to get them to ‘United We Stand’. How can one undo that? Ignoring the ‘Uncle Toms’ and the co-opted, here is my commonsensical Socratic attempt to (once again) try and reach the vast majority of good peoples worldwide who trusted their government to represent the public's interests and not the hectoring hegemons':

Who pays for the loss of life in Iran?

18-09-2010 14:13

"Iran’s aviation fleet which is chiefly comprised of Russian low-quality Tupelov and outdated Airbus and Fokker planes is one of the most vulnerable fleets in the world which suffers from increasing dilapidation and is considered to be highly at risk due to the unjust sanctions which are imposed against the country.

In December 2005, BBC World published a report in which it was expressively stated that Iran’s civil and military aviation fleet is undergoing intense safety setbacks. The report came after an Iranian Air Force C-130E military transport aircraft crashed into a residential complex in Tehran, killing 128 people including 68 reporters and journalists that were supposed to cover a military drill off the country’s southern coast on the Persian Gulf."

Lovely work of U.S. policy. So "humanitarian."

Tory conference to kick off winter of discontent

18-09-2010 00:32

The demonstrations opposing austerity at the tory conference on october 3rd will, say trade union reps, herald the start of a winter of discontent in the UK as the cuts move beyond government memos and newspaper opinion columns and become a horrendous part of daily life. Unsurprisingly, west midlands police are attempting to stall and limit the scale of action at the demo. It seems the anti-cuts campaign is beginning to spring into life as a mass movement just in time to assert itself in the face of state-sponsored class war and protest repression.

To the anarchists ...

17-09-2010 23:40

This was originally posted on Bristol Indymedia at this address  http://bristol.indymedia.org/article/693475

I wrote this as part of the bristol anarchist/squatter movement. We seem to have a lot of energy and mobilisation going on at the moment over various issues/campaigns. So as austerity has arrived I've become confused about why on earth we've been so distant from the workers' movements. I wrote this as an appeal to people to get stuck in to local anti-cuts campaigns. It's opened up some very interesting debates online and in person, and has seen some interesting (and for me at least, positive) developments at meetings and in campaigning. I didn't write this to tear us apart - just to suggest ways we could improve our 'service'. I know very little of campaigns outside of the southwest so this may be of absolutely no relevance to you. I'm sure it will be relevant to some though, and I'd like to share my thoughts with people nationwide. I've edited it to bring in some stuff I wrote after publishing.

US and its allies should look at their own nuclearpolicy before criticizing Iran

15-09-2010 07:42

US nuclear weapons in Europe
For years, the United States and its allies have accused Iran of being a major nuclear threat because it has violated the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Ironically, the real violators of the NNPT are the same nations accusing Iran. The U.S. and its allies have never been able to confirm their accusations with concrete proof since they are based entirely on suspicion. While the media continues to attack Iran, illegal nuclear activities made by the West remain widely unknown to the public.

9/11 Truth and "Global War on Terror": Pretext to wage war is totally fabricated

14-09-2010 12:54

"The New Middle East"
In the wake of 9/11, the (real) antiwar movement was completely isolated. Trade unions and civil society organizations had swallowed the media lies and government propaganda. They had accepted a war of retribution against Afghanistan on humanitarian grounds, an impoverished country of 30 million people.

Concurrently, a fake anti-war activism emerged in the wake of 9/11 which broadly consisted in stating: "I am against the war but I support the war on terrorism". Meanwhile, several NGOs became actively involved in humanitarian projects in Afghanistan, in close liaison with USAID and the Pentagon.

This acceptance of the "war on terrorism" was in large part based on the acceptance of the official 9/11 narrative, namely that the US was under attack, that the 9/11 attacks were perpetrated by Muslims, that the Taliban were protecting Al Qaeda and providing refuge to its illusive leader Osama bin Laden.

Ironically, many "Progressives" in America not only accepted the official 9/11 narrative, they were also involved in smearing the 9/11 Truth Movement. By slurring those who questioned the official 9/11 story (backed by carefully researched evidence and analysis), they (unwittingly) provided legitimacy to the bombing and invasion of Afghanistan, Iraq, the Palestinian occupied territories as well as the targeting of Iran, as part of the "Global War on Terror" GWOT).

U.S., allies should accept a nuclear-armed Iran

12-09-2010 19:26

"But Iran is also a modern, educated country made up of young adults with diverse opinions. Millions — more interested in blue jeans and rock music than in confrontation — would welcome improved relations with the U.S. An attack might permanently sidetrack this potential for good will. To the average person in the Middle East, an attack from Israel rather than from the U.S. is a distinction without a difference.
The U.S. should shift policy, decide to accept and live with a nuclear-armed Iran and persuade other nations to do the same.
The reason is simple. Iran might be slowed but it cannot be stopped from building a nuclear weapon. Its research labs and plants are scattered, buried and reinforced. An attack would slow development of a nuclear bomb but not halt it.
Until now, nuclear weapons have conferred stability, not undermined it. No nation — except the U.S. — has employed an atomic bomb against another. Having nukes would almost certainly encourage Iran to behave better."

9/11 and America’s secret terror campaign

11-09-2010 13:37

Given our historical understanding of al-Qaeda as a “database” of intelligence assets, which were recruited to fight the Afghan-Soviet war, and our more recent understanding of the relationships between the U.S. and other Western intelligence agencies historically and presently to these groups and individuals, does it not seem plausible that the operation of al-Qaeda as a covert branch of U.S. policy has continued?

Certainly, more research needs to be undertaken, but what is clear is that any and all official investigations thus far have been nothing but concocted lies: that is, willful and intended deception, designed to hide the truth, not reveal it.

It is also within this context, of understanding the deep nexus of intelligence and terrorism in international relations and imperial stratagems (that is, strategic deception), that we must view the rise, role, evolution and purpose of the “Global War on Terror,” now in its 9th year, spending trillions to send poor Americans to kill poor Muslims in nations across the Middle East, Africa, and Central and South Asia.
