02-07-2004 15:09
On the the last day of June 2004, Rushmoor Borough Council planning committee met and dealt the final death blow to Farnborough town centre. We were told a superstore is in the 'public interest' and can override human rights and thus it was okay to kick people out of their homes to make way for a car park for the superstore, that a superstore would revitalise a dying town centre.zapatista night - chiapas reality check and discussion

01-07-2004 15:40
Back in April we reported that West Papuans were planning a mass boycott of the Indonesian parliamentary elections. On the day of the elections West Papuans burnt down polling stations, sank a boat carrying ballot papers and almost unanimously refused to vote. This represented one of the biggest acts of resistance against Indonesian occupation by the West Papuan people for some time. And surprisingly there was little retaliation from the police or military. This may have been in part due to a swathe of simultaneous solidarity demonstrations at Indonesian embassies around the world including London.Dissent! Anti-G8 Gathering, Bradford this weekend!

"Social policy can support the economy when women are increasingly integrated in the working life for example. Childcare must be assured. If a shortage of workers exists, a useable health care must be established..But what happens if workers are in abundance?.. Strikes and lockouts are part of the so-called `class struggle from above' when owners of capital have the power to play off workers against the unemployed.."ResIstanbul - protests against NATO summit
28-06-2004 13:58
For weeks protests against the summit take place in Istanbul and other cities against the NATO summit, globalisation of profiteering and power, as well as against the politics of the turkish government.
Whileas the turkish military and government are keen to get a “piece of the cake” which is called Iraq, a social movement is born on the streets.
About 24000 policemen and the declaration of state of emergency in Istanbul give the impression of Turkey being a proud host of the NATO summit.

"The goal must be redefined beyond goods production and abstract labor, beyond the market and the state.. The great step of debt cancellation occurs when the burden can no longer be endured.. The absolute limit is reached when the whole public and social life collapses as in countries like Argentina, when German communes close their libraries.. The new finance capitalism is a speculative bubble and debt capitalism.."genoa justice court cases start

"Politics has actually never lost this control. The Washington Consensus is a purely political project.. With the slogan `Another World is Possible', the movement makes a far-reaching claim. It fights for a new social, economic, political and democratic order all over the world.. Alternative aims at changing the system, not at corrections within the system.."
