Evian G8 Activists Guilty of Endangering Human LIfe

The courtcases against the two climbers who took part in the Aubonne Bridge action, which attempted to blockade the 2003 G8 Summit in Evian were concluded yesterday. Two climbers, and one of their support people were convicted of obstructing a highway and of endangering life in a Swiss court in Nyon. One of the climbers, who was cut from the rope he was abseiling from, falling over 20 meters, was convicted but given no sentences due to the serious injuring he endured. The second climber, who`s rope was caught by fellow activists after being cut by the police, was given a ten day prison sentence, suspended for two years. The support person was sentenced to twenty days in prison, suspended for two years.
