John Pilger's on the War on WikiLeaks and his Interview with Julian Assange

15-01-2011 10:51

The attacks on WikiLeaks and its founder, Julian Assange, are a response to an information revolution that threatens old power orders in politics and journalism. The incitement to murder trumpeted by public figures in the United States, together with attempts by the Obama administration to corrupt the law and send Assange to a hell-hole prison for the rest of his life, are the reactions of a rapacious system exposed as never before.

12-01-2011 22:48

I know its bad form to just repost from the liberal press but they finally seem to have revealed something usefull.
Hopefully this will put paid to any of the “going native” shit that was stirred up by the newsnight piece.
The second half of this actually contains some investigative journalism (though as always they got their leads from here)

Subpoena Of Twitter Accounts Of WikiLeaks Supporters

08-01-2011 12:04

Salon columnist Glenn Greenwald reports that the Department of Justice has served Twitter with a subpoena seeking private information on several supporters of Wikileaks. The federal order, he says, is much broader than originally believed.

Says Greenwald:

The information demanded by the DOJ is sweeping in scope. It includes all mailing addresses and billing information known for the user, all connection records and session times, all IP addresses used to access Twitter, all known email accounts, as well as the "means and source of payment," including banking records and credit cards. It seeks all of that information for the period beginning November 1, 2009, through the present.

Action Stations! Planning direct action

05-01-2011 18:52

This article explains some of the things to think about when planning an action. It's been written for smaller affinity group actions, rather than for mass street mobilisations. It is not intended to be a comprehensive guide that has to be strictly followed, but more a list of things that might need to be sorted out for an action to happen successfully. Remember, in the best tradition of transferable skills and multitasking, many of the ideas mentioned here could be used in other areas of subversive activity. Eco-bank robbers anyone?

Sheridan and the Prostitution of Scots Law

04-01-2011 19:33

Indymedia UK have republished an Indymedia Scotland article on the conviction of Tommy Sheridan here:  http://www.indymediascotland.org/node/22680
It is telling to see the IMCista CH and other here side with the police, Rupert Murdoch and the SSP against Tommy Sheridan. That says more about that site's morals and allegiances than Sheridan's. In reality, a great injustice and diminution of everyone's rights has just went uncommented except by genuinely independent thinkers.

Huhne must tackle broadcasting bias

04-01-2011 16:40

News broadcasters have virtually stopped referring to scientific predictions that global warming will lead to disaster. However, they are continually reporting predictions about the future which assume that global warming will have no impact in 2050 and beyond. In effect, people are being told that Global Warming is not a problem.
