now n power act to kerb legal press activities on public highways

21-02-2007 08:51

now n power act to kerb legal press activities on public highways, this means officially democracy is over and freedom us gone if the high court are willing to grant injunctions to ban legitimate news gatherers shooting from public highways. This is unheard of and a disgrace.

Blair’s withdrawal ensures Iran Attack

21-02-2007 03:10

Today’s sudden announcement of troop withdrawal by Bush’s poodle, Tony Blair, portends a grim future for Iran. Faced with ruination and possible war crimes trials, the tattered remnants of the coalition of willing criminals will no doubt resort to desperate acts in a futile attempt to fulfil their agenda and create further chaos. Instability and perpetual WAR is the ideology of neo-conservatives – have no doubt that America and/or its few remaining allies (Israel) will soon attack Iran.

A Disorderly Retreat: Australian Conservatives on the Back Foot

20-02-2007 16:55

The Australian Foreign Minister, Alexander Downer tonight made his first ’07 appearance on the popular current affairs program, Lateline. Downer, known locally as a gutless, smug, toff, was clearly on the back foot when confronted with the two principal issues that are decimating the conservative government; participation in the illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq and the abandonment of the Australian citizen, David Hicks.

"INDEPENDENT"s Thomas Sutcliffe: same 911 smear -doesnt comprehend doublebubble

19-02-2007 12:40

Despite the pretence of independence, the treatment of certain news items by the "independent" is, if anything, more reactionary compared to other papers. The TV review (19 feb 07) of the 911 programme is a good example of this. Too often people that write for this website assume bad intentions, rather than the usual influences, so, as a sort of "informed sceptic", allow some explanations: engage!

The US Propaganda Campaign Against Iran

19-02-2007 11:05

The US government has stepped up its rhetoric against Iran this week with a presentation held in Baghdad designed to support the claim that, as worded by President Bush last month, "Iran is providing material support for attacks on American troops." [1] US officials said that weapons were being smuggled into Iraq by an elite unit of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard known as the Quds Force on orders "coming from the highest levels of the Iranian government." [2] But, as the Washington Post observed, "The officials offered no evidence to substantiate allegations that the 'highest levels' of the Iranian government had sanctioned support for attacks against U.S. troops." [3] That conclusion was admittedly an "inference", and the defense analyst present acknowledged the inconclusiveness of the evidence, saying, "The smoking gun of an Iranian standing over an American with a gun, it's never going to happen." Italian judge indicts CIA agents for illegal kidnapping

19-02-2007 10:06

The US policy of “extraordinary renditions”—the illegal kidnap and transportation of supposed terror suspects to secret detention sites where they are then tortured—was the subject of both an Italian legal investigation and a critical report by the European Parliament last week.

Conservative Lunacy and Public Paralysis

18-02-2007 11:19

The Australian Federal Treasurer, Peter (supercilious prick) Costello today impetuously let one cat out of the (tactics) bag! Responding to a question relating to the economy, Costello took the opportunity to state that “the people wouldn’t trust their mortgages to the opposition party or to the leader of the opposition”. Tired fear tactics aside, Costello’s statement relates directly to the crippling debt the Australian public has been experiencing since the conservatives took office (hint!) The conservatives are the problem not the solution.

council sensitivity over Liverpool housing policy

17-02-2007 21:59

An article I wrote for Big Issue in the North recently on Liverpool's "slash and burn" approach to regeneration triggered a furious response from the council. The piece, published last week, told the stories of residents in Anfield and Granby who are against plans for mass demolition and the way they are being carried out. I include the response published from Cllr Marilyn Fielding, executive member for housing, several weeks later. For more information see my websites.

Lost Directions

16-02-2007 05:30

The USA is that way! The most servile government in Australian history achieved a new ‘personal best’ in bootlicking today. Yesterday's parliament question time witnessed the Minister of Defence, Brendan (studs) Nelson and the Foreign Minister, Alexander (cream puff) Downer bending over forwards in preparation for Cheney’s visit. Astounding as it may seem to most Australians these two lackeys were attempting to score political points by extolling the virtues of neo-colonial subservience to the United States!

John Howard: Profile of a Coward

14-02-2007 12:15

The Australian Prime Minister, John Howard, has managed to gain some international attention after his hysterical attack on presidential candidate, Barack Obama. The seasoned Australian politician knowingly stated that a victory for Obama OR the Democrats would be a victory for al-Qaeda, “I mean, if I we're running al-Qaeda in Iraq, I would put a circle around March 2008 and pray as many times as possible for a victory not only for Obama but also for the Democrats”.

Australian PM criticises Barak Obama

11-02-2007 05:51

John Howard, known internationally as a Bush lackey, shameless coward, racist and abandoner of Australian citizens in trouble, today levelled a criticism at U.S. Presidential candidate, Barak Obama. The ‘aluminium tubing’ Prime Minister stated that Obama’s Iraq policy would “completely destabilise and destroy Iraq”. Howard seems ‘completely’ oblivious to the FACT that his participation in the illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq has ALREADY COMPLETELY DESTABILISED AND DESTROYED Iraq!

Chinese Smile vs American Gun

09-02-2007 17:19

China's President Hu Jintao re-establishes trade links with Africa vowing not to interfere with the sovereign rights of African nations. The net result of this soft approach is African nations clamouring to the Chinese whose trade links with Africa extend thousands of years into the past. Archaeologists have uncovered the remains of large African port cities containing artefacts and trade material from China and Africa. Large amounts of ceramics, ivory, gems, precious metals and a wealth of other artefacts reveal a long history of lively and thriving two-way trade between the two continents.

Crowing about Turkey Spam

09-02-2007 09:17

The Times and various other papers today lead on the story that Bernard Matthews has another factory farm in Hungary, where there was an outbreak of the exact same strain of H5N1. I'd figured that out on Monday just by searching on "Bernard Matthews"+Hungary after reading that the strains are identical. One thing that proves is you don't need to be a great journalist to scoop the UK papers by a week and I'm not back to boast about that.

Balibo Murderer Implicates Indonesian Government

06-02-2007 14:48

Yunus Yosfiah, former Indonesian government minister and commander of Kopassus, the elite government sanctioned hit squad functioning as part of the Indonesian military, has been formally identified by an eyewitness as the person who initiated the cold-blooded murder of five Australian journalists in East Timor in 1975. Not mentioned in recent reports is the exact order Yosfiah issued to his troops. Indonesian troops were extremely reluctant to fire on five unarmed Australian non-combatants, who had openly surrendered. [Then] Captain Yunus Yosfiah, issued the murderous order, “don’t think, just shoot”, before he commenced firing on the unarmed Australian journalists!
