Lost Directions

The USA is that way! The most servile government in Australian history achieved a new ‘personal best’ in bootlicking today. Yesterday's parliament question time witnessed the Minister of Defence, Brendan (studs) Nelson and the Foreign Minister, Alexander (cream puff) Downer bending over forwards in preparation for Cheney’s visit. Astounding as it may seem to most Australians these two lackeys were attempting to score political points by extolling the virtues of neo-colonial subservience to the United States!
Brendan Nelson ridiculed the Labor Party’s resistance to the installation of additional U.S. military bases in the North and NorthWest! The technologically sophisticated surveillance base at Geraldton is one of two new military installations recently built by U.S. colonial overlords. The primary objective of U.S. bases is protecting AMERICAN INTERESTS; maintaining a pro-Washington government in Australia would also be a high priority!
Brendan Nelson assured the house that unlike the previous Pine Gap experience of information secrecy, Australia will have access to information gathered by the new facility – in view of the fact that Pine Gap was utilised to gather information which led to the sacking of the Whitlam Labor government, citizens who vote conservative and support U.S. colonial rule have nothing to worry about.
Nelson was assured by the ‘honest’ Americans that the high-tech surveillance equipment would only be utilised to monitor ‘enemies of the State’, those who actively pursue an Independent Oz Republic without foreign bases of occupation would no doubt be included in that category! America has already proven (1975) that failure to comply with its wishes attracts swift intervention.

The Foreign Minister, Downer, took the extreme position and berated the opposition for desiring to remove all symbols (bases) of colonial rule from the nation. Australia pays the highest price – nuclear target – for allowing these bases to operate. The rapidly changing balance of economic and military power in a post cold war world now identifies these bases as a national liability. Australia has nothing to fear from the emerging superpowers of Asia. However, Asian superpowers are forced to target AMERICAN military installations regardless of their location. The world has changed radically but the conservative government of Australia continues to apply antiquated 19th century paradigms in a 21st century world.
The behaviour of the conservative Howard government is not surprising but Australians were surprised (and disappointed) to learn that Peter Garrett of the opposition party today publicly recanted on his once passionately held views regarding U.S. military bases. For those who required proof that both major political parties in Australia serve similar interests, Garrett’s astonishing backflip, should remove all doubts. [Garrett effectively committed political suicide today – there is no recovering from such a severe compromise of personal integrity!]
Previous Labor governments would not have hesitated when faced with defending national identity and sovereignty – qualities lost on today’s Labor Party! It is impossible to win government without effective OPPOSITION – arguing similar views/policies is defeatist and the height of stupidity. Labor must present a clear and DISTINCT viable alternative if it hopes to gain government – perhaps a reading of Oz political history would be in order!
Survival in today’s world relies on vision and forward thinking – qualities incompatible with conservative ideology. Infantile clinging to the United States betrays fear, a lack of confidence, but most of all INCOMPETENCE and inept leadership.
Australia’s interests have already shifted East – there is nothing to gain but disadvantage from subservience to the pariah of the world – the USA!
The USA is presently planning to utilise Oz as a testing ground for toxic munitions and a dumping ground for nuclear waste. Australia has reached a critical crossroads in its history. The wrong decision would result in an entire population of cringing, cowardly, slaves – a nationalisation of the qualities of the current Primer Minister, John Howard!
A slave can only teach you slavery and a blowfly eventually leads you to shit.
‘I love a radioactive country
A land of toxic waste
A fitting home for drones
A habitat of slaves ..’
