Petition Power - Online petitions to PM concerning animals
This site is a government website where people can start petitions for the Prime minister to take into account. The anti road charging petition being in the news recently because the government are taking on board that 1.5 million people have signed it and it would therefore be unpopular for them to bring this in. This is a potentially great opportunity for people who care about animals to have their say. It is especially important because the Hunt supporters have a petition to scrap the hunting act 2004, which now has 28,000 signatures. We must show the strength of feeling against hunting and support for the ban being tightened.Cambridge University arms investment demonstration, 10 Feb 2007

Today animal rights protesters covered dairy products and beef with red paint in the ASDA supermarket in Cambridge. The action was in designed to highlight the link between live exports and the milk industry. According to a spokesperson for campaigners “when consumers buy milk products they are supporting the inhumane export of young male calves from the milk industry to other European countries, the animals, if they get there alive may be subject to conditions so inhumane they are illegal in the UK” . According to the protesters, they are exported in order to be raised in veal crates for their 'meat'. "This trade causes suffering and distress to both the baby calves and the mother cows, who have their babies taken at a few days old."Terrorist Charge Ridicules New Laws.
