Press Release- 209radio is awarded an FM licence for Cambridge

Ofcom, the UK Communications Regulator, today awarded 209radio (Cambridge) a 5 year FM Community Radio Licence.

As part of the largest roll-out of radio stations seen in Britain, there are now 99 across the country serving local geographic communities and communities of interest. More are to follow in this first round of the process with a second wave soon to start.

MAYDAY CRITICAL MASS - CAMBRIDGE

There will be a Critical Mass bike ride around Cambridge on Saturday 29th of April. Meet on Parkers Piece, opposite the Fire Station @ 11am.

Bikes and other non-polluting forms of transport are very welcome.

'Sell-off' looms for sheltered housing

On Thursday 20 April Cambridge City Council will vote on the future of three sheltered housing schemes. It's almost inevitable that Simon's House and Seymour Court will be handed over to private social housing companies for nought or at most a nominal fee, and that Tiverton House will be sold off, prior to being razed and rebuilt.

The Abolition of Parliament Bill

The Legislative and Regulatory Reform Bill is now awaiting report stage/third reading.
It will grant ministers the right to dictate law without recourse to Parliament i.e democracy.
The very least we can do is write a letter so Blair cannot pretend there is no desent.
