Why BBC journalists are on strike today

18-02-2013 13:58

Audio
BBC NUJ members have a proud record of defending their colleagues against compulsory redundancies. They have held to their policy through thick and thin and against all the odds. Their struggle is an example to this government that it cannot expect working people to accept cuts which effect working people lives, careers and the quality of the services they provide without making their voice and actions felt. The strike today must make the BBC think their through their decisions again - stop recruiting while others are being shown the door. Today makes me proud to be a NUJ member all over again. Unity is our strength.

Getting ready for 2015 - Partners in Crime Exposed

17-02-2013 16:02

Partners in Crime Exposed
I have published an parliamentary investigation into the conduct of Philip Davies and Simon Kirby. I have uncovered serious abuses of power and irregularities in their Disabled Person's Parking Badges Bill. These MP's should be arrested for fraud immediately. I have uncovered disturbing evidence which paints Philip Davies as a dangerous psychopath and Simon Kirby as a Vera Lynn transvestite. The proof is plain to see and I welcome Philip Davies and Simon Kirby to challenge me to prove it in court.

FAI/ELF Communique For TV & Radio Blackout

04-01-2013 12:00

As part of the ongoing anarchist war for total liberation, we carried out a hit on the Bathampton radio and TV relay station. Fires were set at four points of the structures, and we left undisturbed. As a result of the sabotage, on top of causing hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of damage, we regionally shut down all TV channels on Freeview as well as all national analogue and digital radio stations. Additionally it took down Vodaphone and other mobile networks, damaging police communications and other digital services. 80,000 homes and businesses in the area were affected.

Operation Yewtree deny victims basic Rights

30-12-2012 18:54

While waiting to make a statement in regard to the abuse I suffered in Halifax and Wrexham, this is the disheartening treatment I have received from Operation Yewtree.
Will point out, Op Pallail have been great so far, and have tried to help sort this out for me, although they are hampered by the fact Op Yewtree are in control of my case, for the moment.

Schedule 7 terror laws used to interrogate activists

30-12-2012 10:32

There is now abundant evidence that the police are using terrorism powers to stop and question activists on their political activities when they pass through UK ports. It is undoubtedly very helpful to the police that the draconian powers introduced by Schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act 2000 provide no right to silence – a refusal to answer questions can lead to a criminal conviction. The powers are also hugely intimidating – people can be detained for up to nine hours and have their DNA and fingerprints taken. To top it all, no ‘reasonable suspicion’ is needed – the police and border authorities can stop whoever they wish. What more could ‘total policing’ wish for?

Won't Get Fooled Again? Hyping Syria's WMD 'Threat'

13-12-2012 09:42

Reading about crimes of state over many years, it is tempting to try to fathom the mind-set of political leaders. What actually is going on in their heads when they order sanctions that kill hundreds of thousands of children? What is in their hearts when they wage needless wars that shatter literally millions of lives? Are they desperately cruel, mindlessly stupid? Do they imagine they are living in a kind of hell where monstrous acts have to be committed to avoid even worse outcomes? Are they indifferent, focused on what will bring them short-term political and economic gain? Are they morally resigned, perceiving themselves as essentially powerless in the face of invincible political and economic forces ('If I didn't do it, someone else would.')?
