Obama: The clock is ticking

30-06-2009 19:27

After having argued for five months that he would expect US-Iran negotiations to begin shortly after Iran’s elections, US President Obama is now saying that “any direct dialogue with Iran is going to be affected by the events of the last several weeks”, adding “the clock is ticking” on “Iran’s nuclear capacity”.

What's body fascism doing in a nice riot like this?

27-06-2009 23:02

Imagine the following scenario: a reporter from a mainstream magazine goes to a Climate Camp event, and asks for someone to do an interview with. The media team sends a camper to do the interview, and this camper happens to be Asian, or black. The reporter says: "Sorry, our readers prefer to look at pictures of white people. Do you have anyone white we could interview?" How would the Climate Campers react? Hopefully they would tell this reporter to fuck the hell off, at the very least.

Latest No Borders scare story

26-06-2009 07:38

Read below for the latest crap slung out by the Daily Mail (faithfully reproduced in the Metro) about the NoBorder camp.
This is a huge debate to be had, but I am pretty sick of them saying what they want with no reprisals - one of the better aspects of climate camp is their willingness to attack media lies, forcing many retractions/apologies etc - maybe the same is needed here. If the press knew they would be challenged on every ridiculous lie printed about the anarchist movement, they may be a little more hesitant to print them. Anyways, the article is re-posted below -

Selective Sympathy for Iran

24-06-2009 19:13

Concerned human rights activists find themselves in a difficult situation. While they have justifiable concerns about the treatment of anti-government protesters, they must always keep in mind that warfare is the worst human rights abuse of all. The greatest risk to the Iranian people comes from the American president, who had already proclaimed that military action against Iran should not be “taken off the table.”

Iranian Elections: The ‘Stolen Elections’ Hoax

22-06-2009 09:06

What is astonishing about the West’s universal condemnation of the electoral outcome as fraudulent is that not a single shred of evidence in either written or observational form has been presented either before or a week after the vote count. During the entire electoral campaign, no credible (or even dubious) charge of voter tampering was raised. As long as the Western media believed their own propaganda of an immanent victory for their candidate, the electoral process was described as highly competitive, with heated public debates and unprecedented levels of public activity and unhindered by public proselytizing. The belief in a free and open election was so strong that the Western leaders and mass media believed that their favored candidate would win.

Sustained Media Campaign Against The Calais No Border Camp

18-06-2009 14:01

The location for the Calais No Border Camp and the Camp programme have both been released. This is against the backdrop of a concerted media campaign to demonise No Borders activists as baby-eating monsters who, as one Daily Mail journalist fantasied, have "pledged to help illegal migrants 'tear down border controls and make for Britain'."

WORLD LEADERS SIGN PACT TO AVERT CLIMATE DISASTER
Newspaper Ignites Hope, Announces "Civil Disobedience Database"

In a front-page ad in today's International Herald Tribune, the leaders
of the European Union thank the European public for having engaged in
months of civil disobedience leading up to the Copenhagen climate
conference that will be held this December. "It was only thanks to your
massive pressure over the past six months that we could so dramatically
shift our climate-change policies.... To those who were arrested, we
thank you."
