Angela Davis and Barack Obama

Last night I had the privilege of listening to Angela Davis, a woman I have admired since I first heard of her, and her activism. She was speaking to a philosophy conference so this was not the occasion to spit fire; nonetheless, though her delivery was restrained, the content of her words was as uncompromising as I expected.

Tesco truck demo

Outside wilco This afternoon, campaigners gathered to simulate a truck reversing into Sedgwick St, as Tesco delivery trucks would have to do several times a day if Tesco opened on the site proposed. About 50 campaigners holding banners were part of this. It is estimated that the Tesco delivery trucks would be parked for about 40 minutes per delivery.

Italy bans Pesticides linked to Bee Devastation

The Italian government banned the use of several neonicotinoid pesticides that are blamed for the deaths of millions of honeybees. Georgia, NATO and the spread of war - public meeting in Cambridge

Cambridge Stop the War Coalition will be holding a public meeting on 11th September, 7.30pm, Friends Meeting House, Jesus Lane Cambridge. The meeting will discuss the recent conflict in Georgia and the wider causes and implications of this conflict. The coalition has also organised transport to the national demonstration in Manchester, 20th September. Join the protest, bring the troops home.
