The Children of the Eco-Warriors of the 1990s road protests intend to march to the House of Commons in London in an attempt to serve arrest warrants on all the politicians who are being accused of corruption, fraud, theft, embezzlement, war crimes, climate crimes, illegal censorship and various other crimes against humanity.
Every British politician who has supported the oil companies and the coal and gas industries and all the rest of the transnational corporations and the banks that are responsible for causing global warming will be the defendants in civil and criminal cases holding them all legally accountable for their crimes against the environment and against the people of the world.

Colnbrook IRC: Fariat Mohammadi has sewed up his mouth and eyes and is on hunger

08-07-2009 10:46

Fariat Mohammadi
"Why are they imprisoning me here for so long? I am a victim of the Islamic Republic of Iran. I fought against their injustices for the rights of people in Iran and had to leave because they tried to arrest me. I came to the UK and they have locked me up without rights. It is inhumane. I have been forced to take this drastic action. I haven't been outside or seen any part of Britain since the day I arrived. They have put me in the detention centre like a criminal." Report on an unannounced short follow up inspection of Dover IRC

07-07-2009 06:30

“Like many IRCs, Dover is dealing with a more challenging and varied population, including a high proportion of ex-prisoners. It was nevertheless disappointing that there had been slippage in a number of areas and that the regime and approach was tending to revert to that of a prison, rather than an IRC.

“We had some concerns about the robustness of the procedures to support safety and there had been a significant deterioration in welfare support for detainees about to leave the centre. These are matters that managers need to address if the centre is to retain its positive ethos and ensure a safe environment.”  Anne Owers

Governors Held to Account Over Job Cuts at LMU

03-07-2009 18:39

Picket outside the International Student House
Students and staff of the London Metropolitan University lobbied the Chair of LMU’s Board of Governors, to protest against job cuts on Thursday 2nd July. London Met Board of Governors approved the plan to make 550 redundancies last month, refusing to consider union proposals to ease the damage done to the staff at London Met.

The protest was aimed at Peter Anwyl, Director of International Student House (ISH), who has consistently refused to meet or talk to the unions. A delegation from both UCU and UNISON went to present a letter protesting at the cuts in staff at LMU.
