trafalgar square occupation against cuts 4th week

23-04-2011 21:22

as per last week, trafalgar square was being used for an event (this week it was a st george's day celebration), and so the occupation began on the grass in front of the national gallery. there they set up their marquee and ground sheets and held a picnic while waiting for the square to clear.

later, they will pitch tents in the square, and tomorrow will run their workshops and talk to the public.

this is the fourth week that the occupation has taken place. it was originally called a week after trafalgar square was cleared by an enormous and unnecessarily violent police kettling operation after the TUC march and other anti-cuts protests on the 26th march.

they announced their occupation would be entirely lawful and non-violent and effectively dared the police to attack them once more.

although filmed by 'heritage wardens' and watched by police (both overtly and covertly), they stayed the full 24 hours, and outreached with large numbers of passers-by who also participated in workshops run by the really free school.

when i visited last week (their third occupation), their numbers had increased, and they were also joined by the beginnings of a homeless rights project. they had spread out large sheets of blank paper, forming the slogan 'no cuts', and on the paper they invited people to write how the cuts had affected them. by the end of the occupation last sunday, the sheets were completely covered with moving descriptions of misfortune, misery and deprivation written by members of the public over the previous 24 hours.

the occupation is open to all as long as their intention is non-violent and respectful. supporters should also bring food and non-alcoholic drink to share.

The Battle of Stokes Croft

23-04-2011 16:09

Around 10pm on Thursday 21st April, people from Stokes Croft and St Pauls in Bristol, reacting to blatant provocation, started attacking riot police gathered from three different forces with glass bottles. What ensued was seven hours of constant clashes; police charges, volleys of glass, brick and concrete, burning barricades and the trashing of a much-loathed Tesco recently forced on a community who for so long battled to stop it opening.

PRSC on Radio 4

23-04-2011 12:22

Anyone hear the guy from PRSC on PM/6pm news yesterday?
What a terrible interview. The one iterview with a local person I have heard and all they do is go on about how wonderful PRSC is and all the regeneration work they do and condemn the protestoes for using violence. Not a word about the brutal beatings the police dished out to dozens of our community, no questioning of the petrol bomb bollocks. Stokes Croft is not a 'republic' when self appointed egocentrics use PRSC to push their own agenda. You don't speak for me.

Hack Primark for crimes against humanity

hackPrimark
Hack Primark for Crimes Against Humanity For a number of years now, disposable fashion has been their answer to the incurable diseases that is western greed. Something that most people know is that in order to produce fashion at stupidly low prices, someone has to suffer. The thing with Primark (and many other companies) is they have a supply chain so long, and so many sources from countries you've probably never heard of, that most people become desensitised to it.

Capoeira in the Market Square

23-04-2011 10:23

Friday 22 April

Holiday on Friday and the Market Square was full of folks enjoying the sun.

A Capoeira session started up by the lions in front of the Council House and was hugely enjoyed by those there and those passing by. A few having a go for the first time. Warden patroling the area looked on with a bit of sour face :-)

Some earlier pictures including  Capoeira.  {there are others, but can't find at the minute}

Zahir Ebrahim on Judy Wood's 'The New Hiroshima' and 'Where did the towers go?'

23-04-2011 02:15

http://drjudywood.com/towers/index.html
Therefore, for those attempting to study 9/11, it is primarily a forensic case for a Sherlock Holmes and a Hercule Poirot who can draw on expert opinions as pertinent and set aside other expert opinions as false, rather than some some simplistic noble minded (and Nobel minded) scientists and self-ascribed scholars of truth assuming that the only thing false about 9/11 was the false-flag operation of demolishing the towers, but everything else is straightforward including the “evidence”. Nothing is straightforward. A criminal mind that can plan and execute the 9/11 as 'Operation Canned Goods' for creating the pretext for “imperial mobilization” is certainly also diabolically smart enough to realize that it also would require cover stories and the subsequent spins, including leaving a trail of enticing red herrings right at the crime scene. If an overzealous detective picks up one or more of these red herrings as if they are real clues, and creates his erudite analysis on this “evidence”, you know where he ends up – in the woods! No pun intended.
