A brother appeared in court in occupied Ireland today, charged with a bomb attack in Newry, Co Down three months ago.Nothing unusual about that, it happens all the time in British occupied ireland.Ciaran Farrell, whose sister Mairead was one of three IRA members shot dead by the British SAS in Gibraltar in 1988, stood in the same magistrates’ court in Newry that he is accused of blowing up.Bristol Anarchist Bookfair 2010 Goes Live

We are in the midst of the worst worldwide crisis of capitalism for 80 years, the Conservatives are back in Downing Street and the so called Liberal Democrats have shown their true colours by making a grab for power at any cost. Our new leaders are promising deep cuts in services and spending to keep the ruling classes afloat. This will impoverish Britain’s working class in the same way as the last time the Tories were in power! From fear of terrorism to fear of immigrants, they are using every trick in the book to keep us in line.

Bristol Anarchist Bookfair is the South-West’s biggest radical event and we need you. If you are a part of an activist group, campaign group, art group, book or merchandise distributor, and you organise along Anarchist principles, we want you there. As always table hire is cheap and room hire for talks, workshops and films is completely free.
Last year we estimated well over 600 people came through the doors and this year we are situated on one of Bristol’s busiest streets in the city’s alternative hub. So don’t miss out!
THE VENUE
Abandoned for years, this former office block is now home to a cafe/bar, dance and art studios and events spaces. This is Bristol Anarchist Bookfair’s largest venue yet. Spread over two floors we have room for a café and social area, a crèche and three meeting/film rooms. The venue is completely accessible with a lift and plenty of space between stalls.
Hamilton House is situated on Stokes Croft, the “Cultural Quarter” of Bristol. It is famed for its street art, music scene and many nearby autonomous spaces including the volunteer run Cube microplex the anarchist-run Freeshop, Emporium Art Gallery, Magpie Gallery and the newly opened “Factory” Social Centre. Stokes croft recently hit the headlines when anti-capitalist protesters disrupted plans to open a new Tesco store nearby, by converting the proposed site into a squat and live music venue, culminating in activists clashing with bailiffs and cops in what local media dubbed “The Battle of Stokes Croft”.

brian haw and barbara tucker are back in the square after a night in the cells and a morning at westminster magistrates court
brian haw and barbara tucker were held for slightly longer than the full 24 hours allowed by law before being transferred to horseferry road magistrates court this morning.
there, they were held for several more hours in the cells, until a brief appearance around midday. brian refused to enter the courtroom in protest at his detention.
the magistrate gave them both unconditional bail to return in july.
it appears the police did not have a warrant to search brian and barbara's tents, and so it is difficult to see the legal case for the charges of "obstructing a police officer in the course of their duty" if indeed they were performing an unlawful search.
there is film of brian's arrest and pics (in the comments section) posted on indymedia uk, along with the usual mixture of comments from people that weren't there and only want to see whichever particular side of the story that suits them.

In his very first press conference following the election, President Obama was asked his response to Iranian leader Ahmadinejad’s congratulatory letter. He replied, changing the subject: “Iran’s development of a nuclear weapon, I believe, is unacceptable. And we have to mount an international effort to prevent that from happening.”
It was a clear signal to the outgoing administration and its neocon masters of the Big Lie that he would persevere in their crusade to topple the Tehran government, using the convenient ploy of nuclear fear-mongering.
