There has been lots happening.... Here's an update for October and November...
We've moved venue to St Christopher's Church Hall on Trent Road in Sneinton. We have landed right in the middle of Sneinton so please pop by for some delicious food!
During the two week City half-term holiday we are open as a LUNCH CLUB from midday to 1.30pm.
The dates are Tuesday 22nd to Friday 25th and Tuesday 29th to Friday 1st November. So for the half-term weeks we offer a delicious, homemade, tasty lunch for whatever you have in your pocket or purse!
After the half-term we return to our usual teatime service of 4.00 to 5.30pm.
This month our colleague Jason is away, so Beccy's Global Kitchen is taking over the kitchen with a guest spot every Thursday and Friday... Look out for her amazing food! Marsha wields the mega-pan every Tuesday and Wednesday...
There is a Secret Kitchen Social Eating Evening coming up on the 8th of November... Watch out for a special invite soon...
Did you know...
Every Wednesday we donate food to The Greenway Centre to support their youth activities by providing a tasty, hot meal...
Every fortnight we donate some supplies to St Ann's Food Bank...
Every week after half-term we welcome a school visit to the cafe so local children can join in the fun and help with preparing and serving out our food...
'Affordable food, eaten socially...
The Secret Kitchen Cafe...'
Did you know most of our food comes from FareShare Leicester? We use supermarket surplus to create fantastic food that we can offer for a donation. We are a social eating project with the aim of promoting sharing food as a way of bringing people together, creating family-friendly hang outs, looking after our food resources, stopping food being wasted and thrown away and helping those on limited incomes to access great food at affordable prices.
We aren't just about food poverty- ANYONE can pop by for a great meal. We aren't a soup kitchen; we cater for people who can pay and those that can't pay so much. We are all about SOCIAL EATING as a way of positively changing how we eat, how we get together, education, information and social sharing.

MP Dennis Skinner lambasting ATOS in House of Commons last Wednesday
22-10-2013 18:54
The Labour party backbencher Dennis Skinner MP asked the Prime Minister David Cameron a question in Prime Ministers’ Questions in the House of Commons on Wednesday 16th October 2013 about ATOS - the French multinational IT services corporation who are the Department for Work & Pension's contractor carrying out the benefit system's Work Capability Assessment, raising a tragic case of one of his constituents, to a largely respectful and silent House-of-Commons, as the gravity of Skinner's sad and tragic story about this particular constituent hit home...London property market explodes (again): London as world financial hub
