The Berlin-Athens Axis and the Finality of Economic Occupation

03-10-2013 12:07

The relationship between the two territories is defined by their different legacies of being in the same rare historical role in different developments of the same type. Geographically evoking the idea of a smaller scale model of Europe, the client state of its former military occupier is situated at the Northern coast of the metacontinent´s interior sea, that carries the high water mark of the first wave of development-caused climate disruption resulting from the deforestations of the pre-industrial imperialist era. Its continued sponsor and obtrusive economic superior in the geographical centre of the subcontinent finds itself on the historical frontier of speculative imperialism, where the last pre-industrial geoengineering empire in its deterioration prepared deforestations it was no longer able to implement itself. Likewise the ancient destructions can be interpreted as a smaller scale model of the current industrial wave of climate disruption and the geopolitical farce around it. The so-called Greek-German relationship mirrors this climatological fact and with it a political legacy encompassing both the origin as well as the end of the Roman empire. Only when its security fence through central Europe was overrun fifty-something generations ago, an era of external plagiarism by Greece´s Western neighbour of the dimension of the notorious Babylonian captivity came to its end.

BAMN

02-10-2013 22:53

BAMN - BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY

It has everything to do with anarchism and the class war we find ourselves in. Self organisation in our communities, internationalism, taking out the ruling class, it's all part of our struggle for revolutionary change. Mutual aid and voluntary cooperation. By any means necessary

Me, Gilad Atzmon and the'Truth'

26-09-2013 13:00

Roy Bard and Gilad Atzmon - London 25/9/13

Housekeeping: This article is by an IMCista. It does not easily fit the Indymedia uk guidelines, but we did discuss it as a collective, and agreed it could be posted. I have put much thinking into its writing, and I am clearly identifiable as a result of putting so much of myself into it. It will make some people very uncomfortable and it is likely to generate some hostile responses and trolling. If people choose to troll or attack anonymously, they should expect their posts to be hidden. If people are disrespectful they should expect the same.

____________________________________________________

Whilst thinking about the issues in this article, I also discussed it with some people. One person noted in a discussion that:

Feeling that you are set apart by historical experiences and by a sacred text can allow for that defensive feeling to seem justified.

It isn't a big step from realising that to realising that:

Understanding that you are set aside by historical experiences and by a sacred text can allow for that defensive feeling to be overcome.

I thank them for that, and ask that you think about this whilst trying to understand the points I have struggled to express here.

This piece could also have been called "We need to talk about (and with) Gilad."

Vanished article - ECC bad employers?

19-07-2013 18:44

I'm curious about what happened to the article that was posted onto BIM a few days ago entitled 'Easton Community Center are bad employers'. It suddenly vanished and now it's not even in the hidden articles section of the site. There's no longer even a link to the same article on the IWW blog where it was originally posted.

Shutting down Athens Indymedia: state repression of the Greek anarchist movement

10-05-2013 10:55

Athens Indymedia Banner

Reblogged from Anarchist Federation Scotland: Guest post by a Greek anarchist living in Scotland.

Τhe last few years have been a time of global capitalist crisis, where the financial system has, after two decades of frantic over-accumulation and fake development, collapsed yet again. The neoliberal promises of continuous development reached an end and we are all facing the results of this collapse, depending on the country in which we are living. The purpose of this article is to make a brief report of the latest repressive practices of the Greek state against the anarchist movement and Greek society in general as a result of this systemic crisis of capitalism.

Should a site as controlling as Indymedia Scotland bear the indy name at all?

28-04-2013 14:13

A consumer investigative into the experience of registering with the separate Scottish Indymedia site, trying to use it and finding it very controlled. Hence a caution to watch out for the standards that all the geographically separate Indymedia sites will work by, to remain independent medias meriting the name at all.

Indymedia: It's time to move on

17-02-2013 19:48

Two weeks ago, on 31st January, the Nottingham Indymedia collective disabled the ability to publish new newswire items. This drastic action was taken in order to demonstrate what will be lost if the collective folds, in the hope that those who use the site will step up to keep it going. A meeting will be held at the Sumac Centre tomorrow, on Monday 18th Feb, to discuss the future of the project and all those with an interest in being involved are invited to attend.

Time to move on: IMC London signing off

13-10-2012 14:55

The Indymedia London collective has taken a decision to close.

Collectively we have racked up almost 100 years of involvement with the Indymedia project; from the beginnings of Indymedia in 1999 and the launch of Indymedia UK in 2000 as a manual website and evolution to a content management site, to the creation of local indymedia groups in 2003, and then the launch of the current IMC London website in 2008.

So it is with a sad heart that we bring this latest chapter to an end. Firstly thanks to all the people, friends and comrades who have participated in the project with us over the years, as users, as members of the london collective (over 50 people) and other imc collectives, or as supporters behind the scenes. All of us wish to continue working in a similar terrain and view what comes next as a development from the work that’s already been done. However for us, this Indymedia project is for many reasons no longer the one which we think is tactically useful to put our energy into. There are still many features of the project that we believe to be important and essential, but others which are less so. Below we set out some thoughts on both of these, and some of the challenges and limitations of the Indymedia project over the years.

On a practical note, the open publishing newswire of this website is now closed and the content will be archived, along with selected london related content from the previous different Indymedia UK websites. User logons for the website will no longer work. Our public email lists and wiki pages will also be closed and kept as archives.

We will add to the London Indymedia archive some further reflections and evaluations generated through more than a decade of practice, debate and argument. We also think the function of the London events calendar has been an important one and are interested in thinking about ways of retaining this function in one way or other.

If you wish to contact us or send any feedback on the rest of this farewell message please email us at imc-london-contact@lists.indymedia.org

See you on the streets!
