Confusion over Indymedia Server Seizure

06-12-2004 22:36

There still seems to be a lot of confusion on this matter, not helped (purposely?) by Government statements, so let me try and clarify what we appear to know.

05-12-2004 12:01

AS A lawyer, I have other concerns beyond whether David Blunkett is the father of the two children to a married woman he was having an affair with and whether he fast-tracked a visa for her servant.

Council wardens - council spies ?

26-11-2004 11:50

Sheffield City Council sent two wardens round to my flat last week (Low Edges). They wanted to use my kitchen to carry out "observations" on another tenant they suspected of "benefit fraud". I said no. Three days later I got a letter from the council saying they'd received complaints of my "loud" television. Which is strange, as I don't own one. But...on the day the wardens came ... I had a TV box (empty) on my kitchen table. Mmm...

US attempts to cover-up mad cow disease outbreak

23-11-2004 12:46

This article by Diane Farsetta takes a closer look at why the USDA bans independent testing for mad cow disease. When one beef producer wanted to test its own products in order to meet international safety requirements, the USDA actually threatened to sue them for doing so!

Why? because too much testing may reveal vast numbers of cattle to be infected with mad cow disease in the United States, and the USDA certainly doesn't want that to be front page news.
