SPIELBERG ON "MUNICH" (the movie - a review)

02-01-2006 07:28

"But of course, the kinds of folks who push an ideology that required the expulsion of three-quarters-of-a-million Palestinians from their lands, and then lied about it, claiming there had been no such persons to begin with (as with Golda Meir’s infamous quip), can’t be expected to place a very high premium on truth." -- Tim Wise, anti-racist, anti-Zionist, Jewish-American activist, essayist & public speaker

Mindwalk 14: Ten Billion Points of Light

27-12-2005 09:56

This episode features an anti-war speech by Journalist John Pilger recorded September 24 in London. Our favorite child sit-com star Dickie Richards hits the campaign trail as on the Republican ticket. A few semi-rude tunes from when I was a kid. Also, Kurt Vonnegut and a silly goofball poem by Jack Kerouac read by Juliana Hatfield.

MUHAMMAD HAQUE POLITICAL POETRY on the abuses of faith and belief

27-12-2005 03:54

Those who held the most power and used it in like measure in the world during the past twelve months also invoked a strongly displayed and powerfully communicated allegiance to religious faith and even belief in God. They used peoples’ ordinary faith in God and religion to incite fear and alarm as tactic in the overall strategy to make people accept rules that they would otherwise reject. The power-holders’ behaviour was most contrary to anything that religion allowed them to do :-
Violate the innocent and deprive the weak and do so with no show of shame of remorse let alone faith.

Promoters face flyer crackdown

25-12-2005 12:33

BARS and nightclubs risk being fined and having alcohol licenses withdrawn if their leaflets continue to litter the streets. From April landlords will need to get permission from Nottingham City Council if they want to distribute promotional material outside their premises. The new powers being introduced under the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act could mean they are refused renewals on drink licenses if they don’t comply.

Anarchy and Gnosticism

24-12-2005 16:23
